69 427 convert cowl tag

Almost 30 years ago, I purchased a 69 convert with rusty 1/4's to use the 427. I crushed the car after paying $375 for it and yanking the 427/TH400. I know...............STUPID. For some reason, I kept the cowl tag. Wish I would have kept the car!

Anyway, how many of these do you think ever were made? Red, white top and white interior 69 427 convert.

I blocked part of the body number for security reasons.

Carl, was the car a Parisienne or 2+2? What 427 did the car have? Either way, it was a rare one!

If it was a 2+2, you're looking a very small number. They only made 634 2+2 ragtops in total. One would think that perhaps less than 100 got the 427. Possibly significantly less! We know you could count the number of 4speed 390 horse hardtop 2+2's on one hand.

I bet even less Parisienne ragtops got the 427 than the 2+2. Has anyone ever seen one? I've never seen any evidence of one. Coupes perhaps, but ragtops?

It was a Parisienne, 335 horse. No killer engine, but I realize now just how rare the car really was. And to think it only needed 1/4 panel repairs. I don't even have a picture of it............

I have the VIN recorded on my bill of sale, but the cowl tag is all that remains. I keep it for bragging rights. I would never clone it anyway, and will not give out enough info to anyone that they could ever fake that car.

Yup, you had a horsepower choice. I think the difference was in the cam as well as one had cast crank, one forged. Maybe others have some other differences as well that they can add.

Cool!!!

Just a quick look says 69 Grande Parisienne 2 door hardtop, 427, TH400, power windows, black bench seat interior.

I wonder if the 10B on yours and the 1E on mine are the build week? Your body number is after mine. If the US tag decoding works, mine would be 5th week of Jan, your's the 2nd week of Oct.

The decoding data in the GM parts book doesn't all align with an actual tag, that's for sure.

Hi in response to your inquiry yes they did put the 427 in the 69 Parisienne 2+2.I happen to own one it was produced in Nov and is a 427 -390 hp model. I wonder if anyone out there would know where i could get both rear quarter panels body work is being done this winter and i would prefer to find good originals if possible. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks have a great day.

You may want to place a wanted post in the Canadian Pontiac parts wanted section. You can also post any questions that you may have in there as well to keep the thread separate from this one.

 Welcome to the site.

 Thanks, Brad

Welcome from another Manitoban Fred. You are in Winnipeg?

Is your car an automatic or 4 speed?
