One of my former rides

Sorry for the pic, but it's all I have. It's a picture of a snapshot.

67 GP wagon, 396, factory air, power windows, 12 bolt posi, dual exhaust, am/fm, factory air shocks, speedwarning. I bought this car in about 1979 for $750, only to find out it had a burnt exhaust valve. Did both heads and put likely 40,000 miles on it, all year round. It was great car. Toasty in there on the coldest Manitoba winter night, and freezing in there in the summer. I put in a 2.56 posi from a 69 GP, and the mileage was even respectable. I sold it to a friend, and I helped him part it out for the 396 for his El Camino frustrated.gif

Wow, that would interest me more than an El Camino. I think a lot of Pontiacs were parted out to save Chevys in those days.

Here's a pic of my first Acadian I bought back in '79 and my wife drove it to nursing school. It was a 6 cyl pg car. The original motor had been replaced with a 230 (guy bought it from Sears, anyone else remember Sears selling rebuilds?).
I sold this car in '81 and bought a truck, still had my '73 Camaro at the time and it was a much nicer ride.

Believe me, I regret this more every day. I sold it to my buddy knowing full well one day it would donate it's heart to another project, likely a Chevy.

Boy Carl was that ever a sharp looking car. I can't imagine what would come back on a GM Vintage Vehicle search, big block Grande Parisienne wagon has to be pretty darn low production. Were you running Magnum 500 wheels on that? It looks great.

Man, that is a mean looking ride, and so different from anything else on the road.  Pfff!, those Ch*vies are a dime a dozen, but when did you last see one of these?

Carl, I have a copy of High Performanc Pontiac magazine from the mid 80s with a feature on Canadian Pontiacs. One of the cars pictured is a 66 Grande Parisienne coupe with a 427/390 4 spd in Ottawa. Could this have been another of your old rides?

Yes, that is my old car. I finally tracked it down in Ottawa area a year ago. I had sold it to Edmonton but it was only there 9 months. Sadly, not for sale and he says it never will be.

The car was originally a 396 4 speed but I put in a 69 427 from a Parisienne convert I parted. Yeah, I know, I know.....

Anyway, the 66 was well equipped, power antenna, power windows, factory tach, transistor ignition, 3.31 posi and a bit more. Real nice car, sold it the year after I got married. Oh well......
