paint for my '65 Acadian SD

Ok here's my dilemma, I am getting ready to do bodywork /paint on my car. My car had a vinyl top put on at the dealership @ Jenner Motors in Edmonton in 1965. I am not going to keep the vinyl and am just going to paint it. The problem I am having is that my GM Canada documentation says the car was Tahitian turquoise met. and the trim was turquoise. Are the paint codes the same for the Novas as the Acadians? Under my vinyl top the colour appears to be the colour of the Tahitian but the rest of the car is painted much lighter like the colour Artesian turquoise. The paint code on my document is 'L' and trim code is 914. Does this mean the interior paint would have been a different colour than the outside? Right now many questions very few answes

Does your car still have the original paint on the body or has it been painted?
Normally the trim code refers to the vinyl or fabric colour and interior paint matches them. My parts books for the Acadian and Nova don't list trim codes before 1967 so I can't even cross reference them. Maybe someone else can help out that has some earlier data.

The colour under the vinyl top looks like the Tahitian turquoise judging from paint chips on the internet
http://autocolorlibrary.com/acl_files/chevrolet.html
and the interior is original but the rest of the exterior has been painted to match the interior. am just trying to figure out how to get the original combination back and your answer helps. I also noticed the darker Tahitian colour behind the rear seat when I removerd it last night. The more I look into it the more evidence I seem to find. Now all I have to do is figure out where the colour changes from one to the other. I imagine at the door jambs for the interior and the edges of the door. Would that be correct?
Thanks

Hi,

I try looking at the firewall and inside the trunk as they normally stand up to the years of use. Try a little brasso on the inside of the trunk to see how it comes up.

Love the colour of your car and the interior. One of my favourite colours from the early 60's.

Thanks Dave. If the colour I found is correct I think the car will look even better with the new 'shade' of turquoise. Being a guy my colour pallette has quite a few less choices than your average paint store or car company

Did you see my post in the members ride section? I know it's an old picture, but I think that is the original color of my first 65 SD. Would that be the color your's is supposed to be?

Tough to tell exactly with an old picture (and I've been colourblind since I got married) but it looks more like the colour of my car now. If all goes right it will be done this spring and everyone will get to see the new colour in person

Nice '65!
Seems to be a few of us here with '65's, can't wait for more pics!
As for the color, not sure but are the codes/colors in the '65 shop manual?

I got the colours and codes off the web link on Steve's Nova. Will send progress pics. Does any body have closeup photos of where the quarter panel joins the pillar. With the vinyl top that was on there and the stainless trim I just want to make sure I get the right look without the vinyl. Thanks,
Karl

Resurrecting an old thread.....

This car is almost a twin to one I saw in Winnipeg last night.

By the way, your car has new paint now, doesn't it?

If so, how about some updated pictures?
