Could everyone stand, and take their hats off to 67BBSD!!!!!!!! HE looked at pictures, I posted of MY Beaumont, and sent me many pictures of it, safe and sound in Canada!!! IT seems to have the 396 emblems, I put on it, in 1979! Funny thing about those emblems.. must be a Carl thing! THANKS K.L. for the HELP I couldnt be more excited , if you found a long lost CHILD.. Carl 2
Carl thanks for the kind words-I've always been the guy with my ear to the ground and followed beaumonts since about age 14-there's only so many out there-often they're the missing link. I'm sure the current owner is as happy to find you as you are to find him. I found one today that I recall seeing in 1982 ! I've had several SD's over the years that got sold for one reason or another-still on the never ending search for the "right" car.
happy to help,

Hi, if you would like to see your car I am the current owner. My name is David Lewis and I live in Pickering, Ontario. My e-mail address is dlewistoronto@hotmail.com and my cell no is 416-433-3111. When the weather is better you are more than welcome to come and drive it for old times sake. If you could tell me a bit of the history of the car it would be very much appreciated.
Hey Ken I was reading your posts and stopped in my tracks on the Cheetah. I would love to have one of them (Good Luck). That is the rarest of the rare. There was a similar conversion done on the 67 Camaro called the Black Panther. It was built by Gorries Downtown Chevrolet in Toronto. There were two engine options, a 327 or a 427. The only known car at the time was featured in the November 2002 issue of Canadian Classics.

Hey Ken I was reading your posts and stopped in my tracks on the Cheetah. I would love to have one of them (Good Luck). That is the rarest of the rare. I appraised a 68 Beaumont custom convertible this past summer for a woman that I went to elementary school with-her Dad had bought the car back then-all she could say is "man if this car could talk!"
David was nice enough to contact me, and reminded me of the dates, I had the car..I had bought a lot of cars, from Leo's Auto Sales in Seaforth.. I shared the story, with David ,that I had called Leo, and told him, I wanted a Chevelle Conv. He called me, the next day, and said he had it... He had it parked, in his car wash, and I went over, and had a look. 67 SD396 RED conv ps pb noisey glass packs.. Took it home, saw it had a new (2 weeks) TOP, and it ran nice.. 3:08 no posi..I took over the $2950.00 CASH in my van..Never took the car back. Safety was done remotely.. lol Loved the car! As you can see, in the pictures,I worked in a tire shop, so I could try different rims, and tires..It had POWER drum brakes, and it would stop ONCE well! It started to tick, so I had a young mechanic (working for me) set the lifters.. They wouldnt set, so we removed intake, to install lifters. The lifters, were so mushroomed, that he had to make a pry tool, out of threaded rod ,to get them out...car had around 93,000 miles (I THINK) Car was/is a rocket.. I always loved 325 hp cars, I think they were, the most consistantly running of the 396's.. My brother was up from N.B. in Sept 79, and had Downs Syndrome.. He always loved going for a ride, in any of my toys, and the SD was a car he loved.. Like a little boy, he would rub his hands together, and grin as I took him for a drive . The Beaumont did not have posi, and My best memory is of him, out by China Palace restaurant ,at edge of town.. I stopped the car, and smoked the tire sooo hard, you could hardly see him in back seat for smoke, BUT he was smiling! and wiggling around in the seat! He's gone now , but that memory will never go away...The spring of 80, brought the Clinton Spring Fair, and as you can see in pictures, we were in it... NOW you must remember, that I have had, over a 100 cars in 40 years, and for me, to have a car for 2 seasons was rare! I have had, 10 Corvettes, 9 Camaros 3 ElCamino,4 Novas, plus the Pontiacs, so I was keen for a new toy.. Leo Medds, brother Dennis, had a HUGGER ORANGE 69 Z28 for sale.. $4500.00 less motor..I gave him $1200.00 plus the Beaumont...He drove the car for a while, and then sold it to Leo,s mechanic, who drove it to Daytona Beach, and commented, on how it attracted a crowd on the beach!!!! That is why, it was still in Leo's Auto Sales name, until fall of 80. Then the car went to auction in Toronto..I thought all of you would enjoy this drivel? I took the car to St Thomas drags, and run it twice. The far away picture is one, my 8 year old daughter took. It was running hot, and wouldnt upshift, so we went home (run up through the gears perfectly then) We had a fellow with a 74 corvette, who thought he could outrun us on Highway 21 towards GRAND BEND.. I held the SD in second, until he was beside me, then I moved it, to drive and it was Bye Bye! SD would bury needle in 2nd gear! Those were the days..I have to show David how to do that! lol carzy Carl 2
thank you! those are great! be glad when you put rallys on... When I win the lottery lol I,m going to pile 1000.00 bills on the table in front of you until you nod yes...until then take good care of it and dont tear it apart..
Carl it's a good thing they don't have $1000.00 bills anymore or I might have been tempted, I plan on having the car for the rest of my life. Out of the 66 convertible SD cars built (some say 65) how many do you think are around with their original engine? Probably 5-10 cars. This is why when I do the restoration it will be done to factory specs, the car came with these caps and no stripes and that is the way it will be done. When I do my Blue hardtop it will go back to the original Provincial White and no stripe, no matter how good it looks now. These cars are too rare to fool around with the originality. I remember when I got the hardtop from Ken (67BBSD) everybody was saying "put 17" wheels and trick out the motor" but how could I do that, maybe with a SS Chevelle where they made so many of them but not with a 1 of 200 Automatic car and this one being a special order bench and on the tree car. I need to preserve the cars. Talk to you soon. David.
OK you can keep the car! BUT how about keeping a set of nice looking Rally wheels for Canadian Poncho events, and original wheel covers for point shows? p.s.I wouldnt go over a milllion on it, just too it..
No More $1000 Bills ???? I have three of them available are they no good anymore !!!
Hats off to the originality aspect of restoration, I've just never had anything against adding factory options-(even clones bring money these days) if you can't order one you build it, with your cars you'll always have documentation to support their authenticity- the caps looks great (correct) just an opinion to add wheels and rallys-but if your going for the factory look then the cross flags and orange marker lights need to go before cruise season-just joking-we all drive the cars the way we like them.
