Removed flex plate......installed flywheel.....torqued bolts...applied loctite, left to right..fingers stuck together...installed shifter (works) had a nap....need pilot shaft and washer,coming from Carl1.. need clutch SPRINGS....

Couldnt get bell housing to fit , so I took down starter.. The $&*&^&^ thing can fall down, and rip wires off and break nose off... That 10.5 dust shield wont fit 11 inch bell.. I thought of cutting it in two, and bolting on the 2 pieces.. just leaves a little gap in middle...dont have pressure plate bolts, so i will order them from Centreforce..
got the grade 8 bolts ,installed Carl1's thingie to guide it.. Installed pressure plate cover.. Was suprised ,that it had to pull in, to tighten.. been a long time since I installed one.. my torque wrench only dropped to 40 ft lbs, so I just pulled it real tight! used loctite, and lock washers..Installed bell housing, and tightened snug.. Starter wouldnt install, so I took it off.... Who put all this oil under the car? got to get new pos.. cable.. Going to make a thing, to install on jack tomorrow.. want to install trans soon. Do I take the pilot guide thingie out?

carl 2, the 11" dust shield is still available from the general, pn 3843943 did you find the correct fork??? '70s-'80s pickup might be similar?? dave.
Thats better! The starter on the right is off car and works well. the starter on the left, history is unknow to me. so I will change the nose cones...My friend ,who sells parts, wanted me to buy a small starter, but I am still un-employed, and need to save money As usual, you saved me money... I am going to save up ,and buy you a burger, at TOdd's BBQ
Spent 93 hours straight trying to find a specific straight clutch fork.. My friend in N.B. says the chevelle one will work.. I found a couple listed for impala ,and down in the add, says will fit nova Chevelle??
I want to go with the correct one, but ALL internet forks are multifit... Where will I get one? maybe I could cut this one, and weld in a piece of flat steel?
I wish you weren't in a hurry. I know of a yard that has some, but it's 3 hours away, and under snow.
I would strongly advise against cutting and welding. There is a lot of pressure on a fork, and unless it's well done, I would be scared of it breaking. Then you get to do it all over again.

I am not in a rush, as the car, will be sitting when finished... I cant drive on my side lawn until end April BUT BUT If I dont get it done this next 2-3 weeks, it wont get done.. We have a wedding in APRIL (oldest daughter) a house to sell! ,some changes in our home situation , we have handicapped boys living with us, and when it gets warm, I have a room to rebuild on the side of our home, and a roof to replace over our patio deck, and that is why car has sat inside garage for TWO years....sooooo I have to get at it...My biggest challange to the clutch fork is loacating one.. the internet sites say BUY IT NOW for 65-70 b body and then list same for Nova / Chevelle... I wish I could go up town and order one.. price means nothing to me ,when I want it NOW..GOOD STORY eh? : Postman
