To me, i like the nostalga valve covers. It seem that the motor stands out more.
With the black ones all i see is the intake, if you know what i mean. JMHO.
They both look good, but like the nostalga look better.

Bob.

I also like the nostalgia look. I found a set of the old finned aluminum Edelbrock valve covers that have been polished that I'm putting on my engine.

i put a set of the classic finned eldebrock on the 283 in my 55 gmc, now i'm looking for someone to donate a pair for the 454 in my 63 because they aren't cheap. i've always liked the finned, but to each his own.

I agree, but look at the front of the motor..  does it look nostalgia or new age?

I like the 1st set. I took some old Weiand ribbed covers, cleaned and painted. Maybe too flashy, I don't know but I like them

Just my $0.02 worth, but the nostalgia look is nicer for an older car. The new style covers look as though they belong on fuel injected engines. I have a set off of 95 Impala SS for free to anyone who wants to pay shipping.

Don't worry, he won't make a mistake and send them to Carl1. He's still stinging from being outfished by Carl1 last fall nana.gif

(I'm sorry for de-railing your valve cover thread.)

The tall aluminum valve covers go better with the way you have the engine setup.
The black ones, look out of place.
The black is one way to go to help dissipate heat.
Semi flat black gives off heat better than polished/bright surfaces.
But shiny, better.
