Hey there's only two of us in my office who remember the '67 Cup Win.....that's 41 years of losing. I even picked up a Montreal jersey this week then they go out and beat them in a meaningless game...go figure.
Canuck fan out here on the west Coast, but they also don't want to play in play offs. LOL. I really like that picture though. Not sure who's gonna make it out west, Calgary, Canucks or Nashville, Can go anyway with only 3 games left.
Its still a tight race, but Calgary didn't seem to want it the other nights against Edmonton and then Vancouver

Well the Flames hung on Tonight....Eliminated the Oilers.....If they only bring their "A" game always. I actually think they were lucky to pull it off tonight. But Still "GO FLAMES GO!!!!" LOL

arn't most of the games, sold out each year? It hard to justify spending money, and not having any more revenue? of course, some teams have bought a lot of big $ talent and didnt win either..
My son who is 18 and knows just about every possible piece of sports trivia tells me that the Leafs have been sold out since 1942!!! Imagine that, during WWII and right up to now in the old Gardens and now the ACC. For us who can remember Teeder Kennedy, Sly Apps , Johnny Bower, The Big M, Red Kelly, etc...the team today is pretty pathetic but as you say it is probably the highest value franchise in the NHL...go figure.

I am part owner of The Pilot Tavern in downtown Toronto. My partners and I are all still rabid Leaf fans because we too are all old enough to remember the Leafs' last Cup victory. Nevertheless, we have been celebrating their futility with our annual "What's wrong with the Leafs luncheon" for over a quarter century now:
I like the Sharks to go all the way. Detroit and the Ducks will give them a good battle though. In the East I think it will be Montreal and Pittsburgh playing for all the marbles. Dark horse teams: Washington and Minnesota. In any event, it sure will be enjoyable watching some entertaining hockey again after suffering with the Loafs through another season....

And that is a big part of the problem. Yours truly is one of the people who keeps ponying up the money each summer when that big invoice comes from the Leafs. The bigger problem is management. You know the Leafs futility has hit the big time when they are cover story in this week's Macleans. Here is a link to the article:
It should be required reading for everyone in the organization but likely no one will acknowledge it's existence. And of course the Leafs were even bad at being bad, playing just well enough to finish out of the bottom five so as to have no chance in the lottery. Personally I would love to see Bill Watters take control but you know because of the bad blood between him and Tanenbaum/Peddie, it will never happen. Once again the Leafs demonstrate their incompetence and fractious infighting by allowing personal vendettas to corrupt the correct business decisions. The most telling passage was the one about how Ferguson was hired. He was no one's number one choice, so they "settled" on him as a compromise, winning out because he was the one that everyone did not hate (at least not yet).

Bill Watters is a straight shooter, he lives in Leaside and I have been coaching for Leaside for 14 years plus GM GTHL and President of the Association. I have a first hand account from Mr. Watters on the reason Ferguson was hired but I won't post it here, I'll tell you over a beer. It is rich....
