Come auto wrecking with me !

I hope I'm allowed to do this (post a pile of pictures)!

On Wed, I took the day off and went to my favorite wrecker about 200 miles away in Minnesota. Beautiful day, in the 50's and I got a nice sunburn. We were out in the yard from 9:30 until 5:30 continuous. I packed a lunch and lots of water, and of course some V8 to drink!

If this is too many pics, just spank me and tell me to delete them! It's not all Pontiacs, and of course no Canadian Pontiacs.

RE: Come auto wrecking with me!

Trivia question---

The second last picture (the one below the red 66 convert). What is wrong in this picture?

Oh, and Todd, if you read this, the last picture is a 69 Bonneville 2 dr ht with power windows. Would you want the power window setup from this car? I plan to be back at this yard in May. I could pull it out for you. It may not be cheap. I am guessing in the $200 to $250 range.

Red Bark on Twigs?

How about a 2bbl on a Bonneville?

Could that be a small block Chevy in that Bonneville?

A very good way to spend a nice day. The 56 Pontiac has 55 headlight trim rings on it. They are stainless or chrome in 55 painted in 56. You only need a philips screwdriver to remove them.

Thanks for thinking of me Carl, but I think I'll pass on the windows. Mark may be interested. How was the dash pad on that car?
Great photos. Thanks for sharing!

I think the "Pontiac" inner doors are different from out "Impala" doors Todd. I think we'd need the cheby stuff.
But good of Carl to offer regardless!

I'd like to know the story behind this retractable! Imagine it'd have a few things to say.

Yes, that retractable looks so sad sitting there. I'm not a Ford guy, but hate to see that.

I'm going to check the window regulator interchange on the Bonneville vs. Chevy.

Hollander says the fronts are the same for 69 Buick, Cadillac, Chev, Olds and Pontiac.

The rears are the same for 69-70 Buick, Cadillac, Chev, Olds and Pontiac.

Looks like it's safe to say these fit 69 full size anything. I learned something new.

The one snag would be the door panels are different, so the switch style is not Chevy. A guy would have to get Chev switches, and possibly the pigtails. That is no problem he has them in other cars.

Carl,
Thanks for posting. You're fortunate to have access to a yard that still has some good stuff in it.
If you go back I'd certainly be interested in the gauges & maybe the console in the 63 & 64 full size GPs and Catalinas/Bonnevilles, as well as all the side chrome on that red 62 Catalina wagon.
I also saw behind the red 66 Bonneville convt that there is a 67 or 68 Pontiac wagon which looks complete, and a 63 Buick LeSabre wagon. Do you recall what kind of shape they were in?
Were there any other full size 2 door posts there either Chevy or Pontiac between 62 & 69? What body style was that 67 Chevy next to the 66 Biscayne?
Thx
John

John, I hope to go back in a few weeks. I can ask about the console and gauges. Not cheap likely. As a guess, console about $75 plus duty/tax, side trim unknown as to price there. I didn't see any other post cars. I am amazed at the lack of them. Most of the cars are rotten, as Minnesota is bad PLUS the yard is in a swamp of sorts!. Seems to me the Ponch wagon is fairly complete, can't remember how the Buick looks. I can't remember what the 67 was beside the Biscayne, but he has a TON of 67 and 68 cars. Nothing exciting left though. I think we need to organize a Canadian Poncho wrecking yard tour there this summer! He is planning to crush a bunch in the fall.

Is that Bosko's you mean Andrew? I haven't been there in years, but on the way to this yard we were discussing going to his place sometime.
