1974 Luxury LeMans

It's in Iroquois Falls ON, but VIN shows it is built in Atlanta I believe.

The listing has been revised since I posted this and it confirms my reading of the VIN, it is a Georgia car so it has a Pontiac engine. I do stand corrected though it was built in New Jersey. I try to keep up on the values of this era of Cars because I have one. It is a very nice example of the Luxury LeMans but they are not all that desireable as far as hobbyists go, a GTO , GT or Can Am fetch good prices. This I would think is a $7,500 car, very nice and low miles. Engine code is shown as H which would be a Chevy 350 but I believe it has been mis-read and is really an M for a Pontiac 350 2bbl single exhaust.

Thank you Ray!   I understand, that the car is not rare, but what a beauty..Cold A/C and nice body.. It needs to be in a Pontiac garage.. I thought that the low miles, might bring it higher.. 7500.00 is price of a good paint job... I will try a few bids on it.. Thanks Carl2

At least you know his reserve range now. I agree it is a very nice original condition car. I like it too. The GTO and  2 GT's on eBay are not getting any bites at $3500 & $15k for the GT's and $23K for the GTO. It will be interesting to see what happens.

I would think that you could still pick the 73-77 Lemans very reasonably in the US. I checked quick on ebay and there was one 73 GTO, the one 74 and one 75 are located in Canada. Not too many for sale. I don't think there is a big market for these years yet. And I mean yet.
If you are looking a car from this era I would suggest checking Auto Trader in the US.

A major consideration with these cars is the fact that restoration parts and reproduction parts are non existent so buying one like this with all the trim  and interior is a good idea.

The market and Big Ray have spoken....BR said $7,500 and Market said $7,900. Car did not make owners unrealistic reserve.

That is a nice car! I'm surprised that nobody has bid on it yet! Maybe it's the $8000 buy it now price... when I look at that I interpret it as the reserve price, or close to it. Seems market value must still be staying low on the '73 - '77s.

If this was a Sport Coupe, Can Am or Grand Am it would bring better money. The Luxury Lemans and Grand Lemans will alway's be behind the car's I mentioned. I bought my Grand Lemans because it was the first car I owned and I wanted another. My Grand Am will alway's be worth more that's just how thing's go with these car's. I agree it's a very nice car and to restore one would exceed the cost of buying this one. Part's are hard to find but it's probably no worse than trying to find part's for some of the Canadian Pontiac's that were made. I'm alway's looking and you'd be surprised what you find. It's part of the fun of restoring a car!!

The cars condition, would indicate, that it should not need anything, with continued care..  it is a survivor    maybe a call would get a deal...

That car is in iroquois Falls which is a 45 drive from my house in Timmins. I have not seen it yet but it has been advertised locally on Myzer which is an internet sales similiar to Kijji. If anyone is really interested in it I can make arrangements to check it out and get some pictures. It has been on Myzer for a few months.   Al

Iroquois Falls is a neat place along the St. Lawrence River near Upper Canada Village and the battle of Crysler's Farm Memorial. There is a huge dam there that spans the river and controls the water flow in the river and Lake Ontario. If you have never driven in that part of Ontario you are missing a beautiful drive. The St. Lawrence Parkway is breathtaking.

OK, so where is this thing?  I've been to Timmins and I know it is no where near the St. Lawrence!biggrin

Iroquois Falls is a small town 35 miles from Timmins. It is a community that relies on a paper mill that employes the majority of the towns inhabitants. They host the longest running Blue's Festival in the Province. The second weekend in July The Porquois Blue's Festival is held with the top blues performers from across Canada playing over 3 days under the "big tent" which is an outdoor hockey rink covered with a roof but no sides. Since it has started we have only missed one event and we will miss it this year because of a family member getting married.  Dutch Mason, Jack Dekeysser, The Detroit Women, Collin James are some of the people who have performed there. It is a very good event and is well worth the $30.00 weekend pass.   Al

I hate to keep on saying this about this car. It is so overpriced that`s why it has been on sale since April. There are 2 1973 GTO`s on eBay right now, less that a day left in bidding. The rarest of thw rare in perfect shape, a 2dr Colonade 1973 ( 494 made) is at $3,300 and the other in decent shape is at $2,900. This Luxo Lemans is not even on the radar screen as far as collectors go.

I like the car but those are the facts. Wrong time to be selling an old car as well. I say hold it until spring and hope for economic recovery.

Yup, there is a 72 Luxury Lemans listed in this month's Smoke Signals as well.  "Best offer over $14,000". clueless.gifweirdface
He will never see that kind of money, even if the economy does recover somewhat next year.  Collector car prices are definitely down, as anyone who has been watching B-J knows.  When the high buck desireable ones are well down, the nice hobbyist cars have absolutely crashed.dead.gif
