Getting Closer...

to getting the Laurentian on the road. I got the duals installed last weekend and they sound pretty good. No real surprises (after getting the correct parts-Waldrons goofed on the front pipes but they made it right) with the installation. It helped that Waldrons sold me the correct rear hangers for rear exit pipes as my stock exhaust exited behind the rear wheel. Tonight I changed the transmission fluid and filter (no surprises in the pan) and sandblasted the stove pipe Carl Stevenson found for me as well as some other bits and pieces and primed/painted them. What's next? The 4bbl intake, new heater/rad hoses, carpet, seat upholstery, instrument cluster, tach conversion, tunes, another appraisal, and insurance and I'll be on the road. Think I'll have it ready for June 1? I hope to be close. I have two weeks off starting a week Friday. I hope it rains most of the time so I won't have to tackle the yardwork! biggrin

Well, sounds like you are a lot farther on it than I am on my Acadian...

I had company on the weekend though, and we had a blast. We got absolutely NO car work done though.

Our mystery guest was my nephew 67SD396 on here. He was on his way home to Alberta from a US trip and stopped in for a bit. We both agreed that CP is easily the most fun place to be on the internet.

You must have great patience Todd, I'd put it on the road now then work at the to do list over the summer. Having a target date is a good idea, are you doing all of the items yourself?

Yes I am. These things take time when you are a one man show! My wife is going to help with the seat upholstery however.

What do you mean by "tach conversion"?  Are you going to install a tach where the clock is in the standard instrument cluster?

Yes I am. I'm going to adapt a tach from a 68 Nova as the "font" closely matched my cluster. If all goes well you'll never know it wasn't factory. I'll document the conversion with photos and post it here. Since I now have a full gauge cluster, I HAAAVE to have a tach!

I got a extra 427+ that will swing that tach, and make it dance!

I'm looking forward to some extra cubes. That'll be a good winter 08-9 project.
