1992 PONTIAC SUNBIRD CONV. "ORIGINAL V8"

In 2001-02 I built a rear drive V8 power 1992 Pontiac conv. The car was a front drive "RUST FREE RED" SUNBIRD..I removed the original driveline, and grafted 32 inchs of S10 frame, onto the front of the car.. I welded 1x3 tubing from front of S10 frame to rear of car. I attached the rear to a cross memeber, and welded the Competition Engineering 3 link adjustabe ladder bar to rear. I bridged the rear frame rails, to allow for custom exhaust. I installed S10 rear end with 3.42 posi. I had a local shop make a custom alum gas tank, and installed in rear spare tire area. I welded up a new trans tunnel, and installed driveshaft loop. I installed all new fuel lines, and all new brake lines. It has new rotors, calipers, pads, flex hoses, rear brake cyl, and backing plates. It has new front springs and shocks and was aligned up, and was dead on for front to rear measurements. 4 Weld 15x7 wheels, allowed it track the same as Sunbird. I took a "original"
1979 350 4 bolt main engine to Larry Kilpatrick of KILLER Racing in London,Ont. and he rebult it to 350 hp specs. He rebuilt my 350 trans with shift kit and installed 3000 stall convertor... Car has new 4 core custom rad with S10 ends, and of course S10 clip picked up the mounts for V8, and power steering and disc brakes. I used 327 corvette mainifolds to allow for stock wheelbase of Sunbird.  Car had a cowl hood scoop grafted on to allow for carb space.. Car has new plugs, wires, hoses, water pump, fuel pump, intake is Edelbrock, had HEI, and new 750 Edelbrock carb.  Car ran 13.99@ 101 first time out   runs consistant 14,s with reg street tires.. Car had original top and it is servicable... Car needs a fan for defrosting windshield Car has no more than 500 miles on it..   It runs cools, and eats up rear tires...idea 1 0f 1   $9500.00   call Andrew @ 519-524-0840

Now that would be something different to show up at the cruises with!
Is it still registered as a 4 cylinder Sunbird or as a "hot rod"?  How do you get around emission testing requirements and certification for ownership transfer?

The car was a disappointment at car shows. I was parked with tuner cars! No one could appreciate the 1200 hours of work.. too new they said!

Looks like they swapped out the Sunbird tail end for a Cavalier one and added a body kit of some kind. I have a feeling this may not be your car Carl. Even the interior is way different. Yours looks like it could have been factory built, this one is more custom.
