61 Pontiac

Need a pair of front fenders for a 61 full size. Parisienne,Laurentian or Strato Chief. Closer to rust free the better. Will consider fenders from a US car.

   Thanks, Bill.

Outer skin is the same but the first 18 or so inches of the top inner reinforcement will need to be changed to the Canadian one.

Bill.

Still need a right side 61 fender for my Parisienne. Just finished converting a Bonne. fender for the left side and I'm not going through that again.I would consider a fender with some rust on the lower heel and lower front but please no big holes on the top.

Thanks,Bill.

There was a guy who posted on Kijiji London who is heading to New Mexico soon and will bring back parts. Check the classic car section.

Try a Catalina fender. The Canadian Pontiac body was based on the Catalina American body because they both used a 119" wheel base which is what the Chevy used and the Canadian is built on a Chevy frame. Bonneville was 123"

If this helps, I used the US 62 Pontiac manual as a guide in dismantling the front fenders of my 62 Parisienne. Sheet metal appears to be all the same, and as pointed out, the Parisienne and Catalina use the same body, with the exception that Parisienne's wb is 119", and the Catalina's is 120".

In the model years 1961 - 64, Catalina used a 120" wb in even years (62 - '64), 119" wb in odd years (61 - 63).

Then you own a special '63. Factory records I have from 1926-1979 show the '63 with a 119" wb, Tempest and Lemans @ 112", Star Chief and Bonneville @ 123" and Grand Prix @ 120".

'63 had a total length of 211.9", '64 - 213", +25 lbs. total weight difference from '63 to '64.

either way, the front clip for a Catalina or Bonneville would be the same.  The length difference is in the rear 1/4 panel, not in the front clip or doors.

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree on this one then. All of my reference info - including factory brochures from 1963 and 1964 - show the series 23 Catalina and the series 29 Grand Prix on a 120 inch wb, with the exception of all Wagons, which were on a 119 wb chassis in all full sized series including the Bonneville (123 in all the other models of Bonnie except the wagon). The info quotes the same 120 in wb from 61-64 inclusive in Cat & GP styles.

One more thing that reinforces this for me is the fact that the 63 & 64 Parisiennes use the short wheelbase Catalina body, which we know are on a 119 inch Chevy X frame. On a Parisienne from both years, the rear wheel is visibly and measurably set farther forward in the wheel opening than on my 63 & 64 Catalinas and the 63 Grand Prix I had, as compared to the 63 & 64 Canadian Pontiacs I've had. So I have no doubt that my 63 & 64 Catalinas are on the 120 inch wb.
