Finally out for a ride!

So I finally got out for a ride today, BBC swap is virtually complete, a few more bugs to get out, a little tuning/timing... the open header run thru downtown rush hour was fun!  its a lot milder than my old sbc, and way quieter, but it just looks right having a fatter engine between the fenders!

here's a couple of pics from our 'downtown cruz'...

Hey Andrew,

Looks like you had a nice day to run around with the car. Like the hub caps instead of rally wheels or mags. Sounds like the run was a success. What bugs do you have left to squash?

Looks great Andrew. I see feature car material there. LOVE the wheel caps!

Where do you find caps like that nowadays?!?! My father in law has a set of full wheel covers for his 66 but he's not using them. Don't look that nice on lettered tires. He's got the steel wheels and is looking for a nice set of rings and a decent centre of some kind. Have you had the rings on the wheels to see how they look? I do like it the way you have it, looks mean! The black steel wheels do set it off!

verdict is still out, my sbc was much 'hornier'!hahaha!... I still have my street stars sitting in the garage if i want more bling and my painted flat hood...so far i like the look the way it is ...also took out the am radio and put on a delete plate...

i have to tune the timing and see if i can get a good sense of the vacuum and mechanical advance, its basically a stock hei with an accell coil...lighter weights...i have it set at 12 deg. initial, i might be too much all in, i still have a stainless fan shroud to modify to fit the car since i took the rad spacer out to fit the car... a few little things to do, also have 4.56 gears in the rear, with a busted tooth -found that last year, i have my original 3.73s on the shelf to put in next week and go through the diff and make sure its solid...

Man, where ever did you find a radio delete for that car??? Hen's teeth are more common!

Wish I could have been around for the cruise, but the fish were calling our name...

I found one on ebay... gotta love ebay... i think i paid around $35 for it, so pretty reasonable considering that they are pretty rare peices...

i was fishing thurs-friday in the whiteshell before the show, so after the show i fried up some fresh wallys, with some lemon-pepper!

I can't compete with the walleye fry (well, we got a couple) but I'm going over to my "SPECTACULAR" thread to post pics of my nephew's jack....

cant believe that i found my oil leak... there was a small hole (puncture!?) in my oil filter almost at the seam of the filter where it screws to the block... weird, never had that before, dont know what might have hit it, especially since it is protected by the lip on the block... anyways, looks like i'm finally getting it going!...now i'll have to drive it more and see how hot the motor runs, i havent driven the car more than 15-20 minutes, runs at 210... still have my broken 4:56 gears in the back end, hopefully get them out this week... i did step on it a bit today, no where near the power of my old 350, but i didnt expect it to have it either, but i did expect the BBC torque to be more noticeable...maybe a bit more tuning is needed...
