I have a 57' Laurentien (v8,pg car) hardtop and am trying to get some information on the original wheels that would have been on the car.
I want to put on original style dog dish caps, and have some from an american pontiac but they do not look like they would fit on the only original rim that is with the car (the spare). Are the canadian caps different? Does anyone know where I could find a set?
Funny thing is that the spare has the same hubcap setup on the center as my 14" S10 rims and mid 80's caprice 15" rim. If that is the case I will upgrade to a set of 15x7 rims at the same time since I have a disk brake conversion on the front.
Hi Welcome! I'm not sure about the 57 caps, but on my 60, I used 15" rims off a mid 80's impala, and the original dog-dish fit. I added trim rings, still tryin to decide whether I like 'em or not. I do have a set of wires that are 14", but the car scrapes pretty good with them on. Heres a pic, showing the size difference of the 14" wires, and the 15". LOL GOOD LUCK in your Search!

The dog dish caps look the same Americian and Canadian but mount differently. The Americian dog dish cap is narrower inside and the wheel has clips on it to mount the cap. The Canadian cap is totally open at the back and mounts with the rim of the cap to the wheel. Because of your disc brake conversion you will need 15" wheels from a Chevrolet or Canadian Pontiac with the correct bolt spacing and Canadian dog dish caps. If you want to use the Americian dog dish caps then you will have to use 1954 and older Chev Can. Pontiac 15" wheels that came with the clips. Going this route you are limited to a 5" width wheel.
