It's got Judge stripes on it. If it is a Judge.......GM only made 357 of them in 71. It would be worth running the VIN thru PHS. Wish I was a little closer to it.

Yeah, I emailed the owner and got this reply;

Question:
Hi,

Is the GTO a true Judge car?

Thanks, Darryl.

Answer:
Hello Darryl,
Only way to be 100% sure if it's a Judge is to check with the Canadian Pontiac Historical Society who have all the old Pontiac files.  It is a true GTO as the serial # on it shows it's a real GTO.
If you have any other questions, please let me know.  Thanks!

You would think that the owner would have tried to find out whether the car is a Judge, so he could sell it for a few extra $$$.

If he guy truly hasn't bothered checking for himself, that's an opportunity!.

If it's an original Canadian delivered car, docs are available from both sources but running the Vin through GM Vintage is quicker than running it through PHS..

Canadian Judges had WT1 on the cowl tag.Sounds like he thought it was a Judge too!I think he already ran the vin and is now trying to get his money out of it.

You're referring to Canadian built Judges that had the WT1 on the tag...but if a US built car was shipped into Canada new, it wouldn't have the WTI on the tag?.

Excellent point - 1970 and 1973 only for Oshawa GTO's.

Think I'll take a spin down to check on it Saturday or Sunday. Other than what's been mentioned above, is there anything particular to check? I think a true Judge, if it had the original trunk lid, has different "springs" to compensate for spoiler weight?
How long does it normally take to get info back from GM vintage services?

Just make sure it's a 242 car.Looks like the front window is smashed to crap. The car looks stripped to frame and body. The Ram Air bracket and knob should be under the steering column.
The trunk springs are just adjusted on a different notch.I believe the same system as your Beaumont.
Look for a big hole in the floor. They came with a three speed manual tranny. If it has the small hole for the auto.It probably isn't
Since 71 judges were made in the USA.Go to Pontiac Historical Services online or phone in.You can use your credit card and get info right away and ask if the car had the Judge option.

71's never came with the bracket under the steer column as the system was always open(only 69/70).Judges could be had with 3 spd/4 spd and T400 Transmissions.

If you run the Vin and it comes back a Judge, if your seriously considering the purchase it may be best to confirm the hidden Vin locations behind the heater box match the tag..

On running the Vin, yes PHS will have it for sure but even if US built, if originally shipped to a Canadian dealer, GM Vintage will have the info too..

Good luck!.
