Took a trip down memory lane today

Since I turn the big four-oh in a couple of days my sister invited us over for a bit of a birthday celebration. She asked me to bring the Laurentian as she hadn't seen it since I purchased it back in October. When we arrived I took her for a ride. We decided to take a ride to the house we grew up in. It is still owned by the same people my mom sold it to. I said that we should take a photo of the car in front of the house and in the same driveway my dad parked his '69. The owners were gracious enough to allow us to take a few photos. Here they are mixed with some original photo's of dad's Pontiac:

(yes, I still have to be carefull KFC doesn't take me for my chicken legs!)

It was great to re-live the memories. Who would have thought another 69 Pontiac would ever park in that driveway?

The house has been completely renovated-walls moved etc. Not the same place I grew up in! Looks good though. The back yard was a treat to see. The same maple tree my parents planted when I was born is still there (the front tree was planted in '65 when my sister was born) and is much bigger than when I remember it! It was funny to see the same shed my dad built in the early 70's still standing. We also had a good visit with our old next door neighbors. They moved there in 1978. They got a kick out of the Laurentian and remember dad's car as well. Turns out Bob (the neighbor) had a 69 Strato Chief that he bought new in 69. Seems like these cars were everywhere back then! I remember the neighbor across the street had a black 69 Laurentian too. Funny how nostalgic you get as you get older. Fifteen years ago I really didn't give much thought to the house I grew up in.

Great Pics ! Love these old memories, Good ol' days with real cars made of real steel...not recicled Coke cans ! Dad mostly had Chrysler products with good undestructable slant sixes, such as Plymouth Valiants. The fastest car he had was a 72 Mustang fastback 302 same color as your dad's Poncho. Big 40 for you, Lucky you ! Happy Birthday ! Big 44 for me next week 1/2, Sept 11 can't forget it now ! Pascal.

Yeah, nice pics and happy b-day. I drive by our old house in sarnia every now and again and still looks the same except for a real nice garage they built. Too bad my dad dident build one, he would probally still have his 67 charger!!
