"Fake68" from this site called the other day and offered me a free supper and a chance to listen to Jerry Burton who apparently is editor of Corvette Quarterly (I think that's the right name for the magazine)
I am not a Vette guy, but took him up on his offer and we went tonight and had free supper and Corvette history lesson. I have to say, that was a lot of fun. Also, we sat a table with a couple of non-Vette guys and swapped a lot of car stories. One of the guys knows of a 67 Impala SS convertible 427 4 speed car in Winnipeg that I had never heard about before. Not a Pontiac, but neat all the same.
Anyway, it was fun listening to Jerry because he also works for the company who does advertising for Chevrolet in Detroit and he said he writes the Corvette sales brochures too. That kind of stuff always appeals to me.
I should add that he talked about the new for '09 ZR1 with 638 horsepower. That sounds like a rather amazing car to say the least.

Very neat Carl, I would like to find out more about the 67 427 convert as I love the fullsize 67's especially the 427 cars as I own one. The cars that no one has ever heard about before are popping up lately. Not long ago there was a 67 Impala SS 427 4speed car on kijiji in dauphin. The car was sold new in town and still resides there. The current owner still knows the original owner. Unfortunetly the current owner was somewhat hard to deal with and was just fishing for big money on the car. He kind of ruined the cars value to buy installing patch panels on the car and decking the block loosing the original stampings. argh stupid. He too told me that there is a 67 427 4 speed convert some where around here. Theres lots of cars around here it seems that have not been found yet so to speek that are in people garages and never get out.

There was only a few over 1200 of the 427 Impalas made with the Z24 package. Back in 74 at the age of 17 , I totaled by new Cutlas and needed some thing to drive. My younger brother seen this 67 Chev forsale on his paper route and asked how much. He want a $1000 so I did not go look at it. Weeks latter he asked my brother if I would be interested in it for $700. I went down to look at it and it was a 67 Caprice with factory 427 buckets ,console ,power windows and factory air. He took us for a ride. pulled it down in low and when it snapped in to second , putting down rubber I said I would take it. Canadian doc show it to be 1 of 31 Caprices built with a 427. I am hopefull of finding one of the Z24 hoods to put on the car some day. They are hard to find.
Neat story. You still have the car??? Ya those 67 Z24 hoods are hard to find. I was lucky and found a very nice one years ago. They are super expensive, a nice rust free one with the insert will run ya a good $5000-6000US.

Great foresight in picking up that 427 Caprice at that price, and also the Z24 hood. The 427 big cars cars and the Z24 hoods for 67-68 are over the top in price these last 2 or 3 years. I know - I've been looking for a 67-68 396 or 427 convt for three years. For now though, I'm happy with my 396 68 Caprice and my 427 69 Parisienne.

Attached is a picture of my 69 Pontiac 427 Parisienne from an ad when it was for sale back in 1984 in Montreal by the original owner. It was posted on the yenko site. I have not been able to raise the person who posted it - I was looking for more background on the car.
Also attached in response to Todd's question, pictures of my 68 Caprice: 396, T400, PS, P disc brakes, F41, 12 bolt posi, rally wheels, hideaway headlights, tach & gauges, PW, tilt, tint, AC, buckets, console. Green on gold, estate car. Only thing that would improve it would be a 427. I unsuccessfully looked for a 427 with these options before I bought this one.

For the record, apparently this car is an Impala SS with a 427, not an SS427 car. Still a VERY neat car, especially a Canadian original.

Nice to see Toyota has enough taste to let their guys drive around in Chevrolet's flagship car ! beats the hell out of NSX-sorry what was that, can't remember the name it was such a short run with so little following
Haha. That pic was taken last summer-when I worked at the GM store. The boss let me take it for an evening so that I could take my son for a ride. I know for sure I'd lose my license in one of those cars. 80-90kmh feels like a snails pace in one!
Reminds me of when I was a M'Benz SM and the new variable valve timing SL500's had just come out.. Being they were a $125 thou. car, I didn't let the techs drive them and often took any problem units needing diagnosis home nights or for weekends.. One Monday morning I was blasting down a smooth back country road on the way to work drinking a coffee at what felt like a comfortable 75 Mph or so pace.. When I looked down at the Speedo and saw I was just over 255 Kph, I did the quick math in my head and just about choked on my coffee when I realized I was actually doing 160 Mph!.
