I have a complaint about this forum

It is getting WAY to busy.biggrinbiggrinbiggrin

It's tough to keep up with the reading. I worked outside a good chunk of the evening and when I sit down to read the usual half dozen new posts, there's a whole page eyepopping.gif

That must be a good sign, she was threatening the ice age last time we heard from her!

I didn't give notice, and I do that at work anyway.....

Ooops, did I say that??? Just kidding. I do sometimes check it at lunch and coffee though. I can take the laptop to the lunchroom on my break though, that's kind of handy. When I give up my parts managers title shortly I am not sure if that luxury will continue though, sadly.

sooo you can be on the site anytime?lol    In the interest of "public safety" of course?  lol    I had a government job once.  Since there was no "production", the motto was "hurry  up and wait".. If I wanted a afternoon off. I had to have, all my paper work "done"  So I would mail it to myself, and have it back the next morning!   Dont you love Canada   lol

When I worked for the Government it was one of the most demanding jobs I ever had, I never understood the bad rap government employees got. I was basically working 10 to 12 hour a day 6 and sometimes 7 days a week depending on appearances and events, it was sometimes a lot longer. Politicians are on call like 24/7 and they expect the same from staff. furious

73SC - I'm with you. I have respect for those who work in the public sector. The hardest job I ever had was working at the senior level of government. No less than 6 days a week, 10 - 14 hours a day for long periods, always on call. I had to get out because my kids were two and four and I never saw them. I knew it had to end the day my son, then 3, came to visit me with his mom and infant sister at 7.00 pm on a stat holiday, and as he was leaving, said: "Thank you Daddy for taking time to see me".  Within a year I was gone.

I got nailed twice at work for being on here. I wonder if "canadianponcho.ca" will make it's way on the list of blocked URL's....

I worked as a Fed in Toronto for 18 years and was very busy ... but the past 2 years here as a Fed in Charlottetown PEI have been very slow and quiet.

I put in 15 years. I left after being at the Director level for 8 years. I suppose being at a senior level may be different because the elected folks expect you to be there with them all the time. I was Finance so they liked having me tag along to feed them answers and to pay the bills for the lavish lunches, dinners and unmentionables. One day it dawned on me how these esteemed elected representative though of us "Senior Bureaucrats" when I was summoned to pay an obscene restuarant tab in one of the chic parts of Toronto, when one of the more verteran members said..."Why bark when you have your own dog" My corporate credit card had a $10,000 limit for such occassions.

If they ever blocked my access, I'd just have to pop downstairs to an internet cafe to get caught up, at least as many times as the smokers go outside to take smoking breaks - a lot of time away from their jobs that no one apparently expects them to make up.  Which reminds me of an interesting zinger I got off one day as I came in a little late.  One of smokers was heading downstairs for one of their breaks and made an oft-handed remark to one of the other smokers as they got on the elevator, "Oh, bankers' hours I guess", to which I shot back: " No, I just take all my smoking breaks at the beginning of the day!" evileye
