Here's some pics from the other shows i was at last weekend. The evening shots are from St. Thomas and the day shots are from the same Woodstock show Todd was at. Enjoy!
Ray i thought of you when i found that LeMans. Wasn't even part of the show the other night. It's in rough shape but much like mine it looks good from 6 ft away. And like mine you never see them at shows. The Monte is an 87. It is from the U.S. the owner was telling me but not the deep south. The car was converted he thinks in South Carolina. He was telling me they took the 87's off the line randomly to do the conversions so they're all the possible colours for that year. He got this one in the current condition, and it's even got T-tops. Just over 2000 were made for 87 he said and it's powered by a 305.
Great shots, thanks! That 64 Polara is a nice piece, it could find a home in my garage any time, as could the 76 Fury wagon. Dig that upholstery! What were they asking for that bad boy? In case you haven't notice, I'm closet Mopar fan....

Hillar i'm a Mopar fan myself. I didn't see the owner at the time around the wagon. Quite the beast, no SUV has anything on it! The Charger i thought was a great colour. That Polara was so sweet. I think it's a 50th anniversary car. We'll have to enjoy these pics because pretty much as of this coming weekend the car shows for this year will be done.

Yes, I had one with a notch roof. It's not just a 305, it's an L-69, made the Hot Rod Magazine - Chevy Engine Hall of Fame. Pretty much a engine put together from the Corevtte parts bin.
Here is the Car & Driver data base results for acceleration 0-60 and 1/4 mile for factory cars:
1968 Chevrolet Corvette 327 - 7.7 & 15.6
1985 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS - 7.5 & 15.7
1998 Cadillac DeVille Northstar V8 - 6.9 & 15.1 ( I just threw that in since it is my daily driver, lol)

I was going to ask why would anybody F***up a SS like that. I take it they didn't sell many of those half breeds.

They had to satisfy the NASCAR minimum production. I am pretty sure DW won the Championship driving #11 for Jr. Johnson in one of these. The trunk lid is about 18" wide, just enough to slip the spare tire out. I still think the rear window is from the 1978 2dr Impala.
Apparently the trunk area is open underneath so it is quite roomy. DW won the championship in 85, but i think that was before the earliest aero Montes. I don't know, i imagine Dale Earnhardt was driving one in 86 and 87 when he won the title both years. In 88 it was Bill Elliott so Ford had the crown that year.
A friend here in Trenton has a sign shop, and has done a few wood grain on some cars using vinyl. It comes in rolls and there is a few different shades and texture I believe.
I'd buy a station wagon. I grew up riding around in a 73 Mercury Montego. My dad had that until i was 8 or 9. It had the fake wood grain sides. It was some kind of golden brown and a brown interior. Ugly as anything and a block long. I don't know how feasible it is but i've considered getting rid of the 2001 car i have and buying a mid 80's 4dr sedan. I know i'd be spending more on gas but i'm thinking a lot less computer/sensor stuff to deal with. If i had my way and decided to do it i'd buy a 4 dr Pariesienne or Impala, maybe a Safari wagon and just keep it maintained.
