I've seen a car like my first car

Yesterday, on my way to work, I've seen a car like my first car, It was not a Pontiac but sure was minty. My first car was a gold 2dr 1975 Olds Cutlass and I loved the way it handled and what comfort. The one I saw yesterday was light blue and an older gentlemen was driving it, probably the original owner. The car was real clean and didn't seem to have any rust, If I had time, I would have followed him and ask him if he wanted to sell it. Mine was the S version with the baby V8 Olds 260, I think his was the Supreme and probably has the 350 engine. Anyway, it brought a tear to my eye and made me want to drive a big comfortable early seventies GM product. Now, lets hear about you folks first cars.

75 Chevy Monza 2+2 Small block V8, hooker headers, dual turbo corvair mufflers, giant SBC 400 carb I got off a Kingswood Estate, Edelbrock open air cleaner.  It could run with the Vettes and Trans Am's of the day, easily get away from Mustang GT's back then.

It surprised a lot of folks. I once offered an executive type guy a boost in the mid of winter, he was driving a huge Buick Electra Estate wagon. He said "son this is a 455, you'll never boost me." I said "Ok but for 10 bucks will you let me try?"

When I pulled up and popped the hood and all he saw was that orange V8, gleaming chrome hookers, chrome air cleaner and what not his eyes popped out. "You could power a small town with that" is what he said. Needless to say the 455 cranked and started...he gave me 20 bucks and since we were at a gas station I filled her up. biggrin

65 Canso Sport Deluxe. Only kept it a year and a half, then traded for a 66 Grande Parisienne. It's a tossup which car I liked better. I've been a bit smarter with the SD I have now. It's been 22 years. I have now owned it longer than the lady I got it from and she bought it new.

My first one---

My first car was an 80 Parisienne 2dr. Grey with blue interior, loaded. Wasn't in the best shape body wise but solid as a tank.  Since i'm a kid of the 80's, i still like those early 80's cars...in case you couldn't tellsmile

My first car was a 69 oldsmobile 98 loaded one owner car 455. My dad is a car sales man and he always made sure we had a car to drive. It took me 2 years to kill it but when i was done there wasn't much left . It could barely chirp the wheels out of the hole but give her a mile and you were flying

1970 Sklyark Custom. I paid $750 for it. I replaced damn near everything in my driveway-
Engine, transmission, glass, interior, fenders, doors, hood (GS Hood), trunklid, rear bumper, GS grille, dual exhaust etc etc etc (you'll try anything once when you're 18).
Sadly I had to sell to pay my income tax! That was the mid 80's-you could still roam the auto wreckers and find these cars in there! I skipped a lot of classes in high school because of that car!

At my age of 70 will be older than most, so go back to 1954 (if any out there were born)?
I purchased a nice 41 Plymouth Coupe for yes $75.00 and could not kill it! Kept it for about 2 years then bought a sweet 48 Chev Fleetline which had only 40M on the clock paid $300.00 for it and thought I was being robbed! The story could go on, as I have owned 58 other cars since then, but will not bore you with the details! Bob.

A buddy of mine and I split on a 57 Meteor Rideau 500 when I was 15. We never got it running, but it was a cool looker!. The 1st one I bought myself was a 67 Beetle ( junk) never ran right. The 1st one I actually had fun with and could drive more than a block without breaking down was my 64 Parisienne 409 with a 3speed stick.

Bob, nice to have older folks like you sharing the hobby. I remember back in 1979-80 area when fuel was getting pricy and big cars were getting crushed by the dozen to make room for the smaller generations of cars. At the time I was a 15-16 year old teen and, had older friends who had more experience driving, we would chip in and buy $50 barges of the late sixties, early 70's with 455's... such as Buick Lesabre or Parisienne Brougham and go for joy rides in the woods and blow their engines...destroy them, what a shame when I look back, one of them was a 66 Olds Starfire 2 door with a 425, these are real rare cars now ! Now that I think about it, they were not that old and still in pretty good shape, for a car like that today we pay 1K or more, I sure kick myself.

It was originally an automatic column shift from what I remember, that was over 35 years ago. I bought because of the cool engine. I have an uncle who had a 61 BelAir 348 3x2 when I was a kid  and those engines were just the greatest looking, I thought. My car was a rusty, well worn car by the time I got it.

First one on the road for me was a '69 Chevy Pickup..
SB w/ a 3-Tree and get this...factory purple!.
Never paid attention to paint/interior data tags etc back then but it was factory paint including the dash, interior roof and all...even the seat and door panels were purple vinyl!.
Sounds bad now but was cool then!.
And I do mean PURPLE like Mopar Plum Crazy...not Evening Orchid or Royal Plum GM colors..

Not my first car but 1957 Buick special. I was working after school for a farmer and one day I asked him what kind of car was in the tall grass. He told me what it was so I went to take a look . When I seen it I thought it looked pretty good but was smashed in on passenger side . I asked him what he was going to do with it he said nothing who wants that old piece of junk . So I told him I like it how much he said $1.00 So I paid him and it was mine . OK heres the bad part I moved away to live closer to my girlfriend and never did pick it up . If I had I would probably still have it . And she is long gone some times when you are young you think with the wrong head
