Received my rebuilt carb today !

I received my rebuilt 1972 Pontiac 400-455 Qjet carb from Cliff Ruggles in the states today. It wasn't cheap because of money exchange and duty, but it looks brand new ie. replated, high performance parts kits and tricked out, bench tested on a running engine...he's supposed to be the best Qjet rebuilder around, I can't wait to try it !

C2, I had one on my '75 Ventura 2-dr hatch 350, 4-gear, 3:73gears. (Was 6-cyl 350thm, 2 somethings:1) About 3 blocks from home I use to get on it and my buddy I boarded with use to gave me crap about driving fast near the house.....Till I told him I was at the stop sign 3 blocks away!!!! Stubborn when cold, but when she warmed up, went and sounded awesome...

The Lemans comes apart, things slowly gets rebuilt and put aside till it's time to get it back together...alot more to go. Here is the sound of  a Qjet 4 barrel opening up : TOOWOOOOOOOO !!!

I still think the Qjet is the best 4 barrel ever made. It's a great performance carb, great economy, work well in the cold (with the odd exception of course) and plentiful. They certainly have their flaws though (leaks, dripping in when the engine is shut off) but overall a great deal.

+1 ^

For the track, Holleys were superior, but on the street, for the best overall carb, you can't beat a Q-Jet.

If anyone is looking for one, I have lots of late 60's early 70's in stock, PM the part number  you are looking for and I will check if I have it.

Pascal, is yours a 262 or a 264?

Carburetor Rebuilders in Toronto does excellent work as well, I have known the owners for over 20 years, plus you are paying in Canadian dollars so no border hassles!

Pontorquer I also run a Cliff's Q jet.I cannot say enough about his work.It starts right up even after weeks of no use, idles perfect, feels like fuel injection and it make's the 455 go like hell.I highly recommend Cliff.I have used carburetor rebuilders in the past and they cannot match cliff's.Speciality carb(Etobicoke) is OK but only for stock rebuilds and parts. And no I don't work for Mr Ruggles

I've used "The Carburetor Doctor" in Edmonton for a few of my carbs.  They look brand new, and start right up.  He also sells parts directly or on ebay.  "Rusty" at www.carburetor.ca   780-968-6622  doc@carburetor.ca
