Nova/Acadian scattershield wanted 62-67


This is maybe a bit of a longshot but let's try. I may have run and ad like this once before, I kind of forget....

I am looking for a scattershield that fits only 62-67 Nova/Acadian. As you can see in the pic, the clutch fork comes out in a different spot than on the other models, making it unique.

Thanks. Oh, and yes I know they are available new but that is a bit cost prohibitive these days.

This is the same one that I have on my '66 Carl. I know you are looking for used, but that may be a bit of a hard find. In any event the price on a new one here seems to be reasonable, may be worth checking. $340.00 US

Go for it Steve. I have since decided to stay with the stock bellhousing. I likely should do a scattershield but I just can't bring myself to deviate that far from stock appearing.

Carl, you are restricted to the 153 tooth flywheel and 10.4" clutch with the stock bell, if that makes any difference to you.

Yes, no problem. I am only running stock tire size anyway, or close to it.

I ran that combo on my 66 L79 clone years ago and was happy with it. They wheel hop so bad you can't dump the clutch anyway!

Yes, the smaller clutch does work, but if you slip it a bit to keep the tires from breaking loose it soon gets fatigued and starts to slip.
 
I believe the General replaced about 6 clutches in my '66 in the two years it was under warranty. I had a friend that worked for a dealership in Calgary and he told me that warranty wouldn't cover clutches unless they were oil soaked from a main leak. Sooo, every time one would begin to slip a bit we would throw the car up on the hoist and pull the fork boot, shoot a pint or so of used oil into the bell with a sludge pump and drive it off to the dealer. A day later it would be ready with a new pressure plate and disc, resurfaced flywheel and a new rear main seal.

As far as wheel hop, we were too broke to buy traction bars so we cut a junkyard leaf in half and clamped one half to the front half of each monoleaf behind the hanger to keep the spring from winding up. This actually worked quite well.

Things were so much fun when we were young.wink

Really? I learned something new again today. I would have lost money on that bet. Does that seem like a bad decision to put a clutch that size in a car like that, or what?
