Only the real thing will do in our house. I know it's a real big city thing to do but we get it every year from a nursery on Queen Street East, been going there since I was a kid. Always get an 8 footer, probably set us back $85 this year. Heading down in the morning to pick it out. Nothing like that fresh smell in the house and the little party we always have when the whole family decorates iit. Nice fire going, hot chocolate and popcorn, a few Christmas tunes playing.
What type of Christmas tree is in your house, Real or Fake?

we used to get tree from the tree farms in Langley,I like fresh trees, but... it takes about 7-8 yrs maybe a little longer to grow the tree...so now we use a Fisher-Price tweeee
Been going with a fake one for the last 2-3yrs here.Being envo friendly for the kids sake.our one boy keeps us on our toes re:the three r's. We do miss the aroma that always comes with the live trees though, dont miss the clean up after.

A real tree. I have had this tradition going on since my oldest daugther (20) was young. Its been so long that I can't recall when I haven't had a real Christmas Tree. None the less, my youngest son (3) has caught onto the tradition as well. Mom asked him "do you want to get a tree from the store or do you want to go and cut one down". His response in a slightly deeper voice was "we are goona go cut one down". So off tomorrow being Saturday, and we gonna go cut one down. Besides the nice fresh smell you get from a tree freshly cut, but is nice to go out as a family and pick the tree that you are going to cut down to bring home to all decorate. Keep traditions going. You can't get any better than that.
Merry Christmas to everyone and all the best to you and your family at such a festive time of year.
This is our first year for a fake Christmas tree. We had to exchange a couple of gifts last year at sears and there was a Martha Stewart Christmas tree on sale, regular price was $499 sale price $199. It is a beautiful tree but I miss the smell of a real one. I'm going to cut a couple of branches off a real tree and put them behind the fake one and see if we can get the aroma of a real tree.
We have a fake tree that was given to us. It's at least 7 ft and it is just the right height when the star is added. It was given to us by a friend of my wife's family so it's more than just a fake tree, it's been passed on to another family to have for the holidays. This is our second year with it and i still can't remember which branches you attach where
Well its up and decorated, looks great, It's a big one, better than eight foot Balsam Fir, had to cut 6" off of it to get it to stand up in the house. I put 400 lights on it. Smell is nice too. Didn't cost as much as I thought but it did set me back $75. Madelyn just said, "Its perfect Dad". What else is there to say?
We have a real tree every year. My wife has quite a few tree ornaments that her parents used when she was a kid. There's nothing like the scent of a real Christmas tree.

Madelyn had White Christmas playing while I was doing the illumination part of the tree. That is our favourite Christmas movie BUT nobody can touch Chevy Chase in Christmas Vacation. I still crack up every time that light switch in the garage puts on and out his entire set up, then the power plant goes into overload......

Hey Ray, have you ever been to "Carolling in the Park" in the Glen Stewart Ravine? They string up a whole bunch of lights at the south end of the park, they have the Salvation Army Band playing, free hot chocolate and cider, and hundreds of people singing carols under the lights and the stars. It's about the most Norman Rockwell kind of Christmas thing you can do in TO. It's on tomorrow night if you are interested in checking it out.

We got a good deal on a really nice tree at our local "Food Basics". 20 bucks! However, the joy of saving $$ didn't last as when we tried to use our stand from last year, it busted so... Connie sent me out to get that fancy stand at Canadian Tire. 50 bucks later we now can adjust the level of the tree using the little "foot" switch on the stand...
Real and Fake-We have two boys 6 1/2 years old and 2 1/2 years old, low quality fake goes up in the basement early, Good quality fake goes up in the living room a week ago, real one dressed in Chocolate goes up this weekend in the dinning room. I tell my kids how lucky we are many people don't have one Christmas tree-ours are all dressed in a warm home-how could we ask for more
