Today on Dr Phil, there was a IRAQ war vet with a lost leg and eye. He was with his mother, seeking help ... Dr Phil arranged for a surgeon to fix his eye.. There was a Congressman there with the Joint Chiefs attached to Veteran affairs. He(the Congressman) said there are over 1 MILLION vets of Iraq, and last month over 800,000 uncompleted requests at Walter REED!(for help) He says the Walter Reed staff shred files, and refuse to look at most requests of Post war syndrome.. He said the info on suicides is blocked, and many vets "are" commiting suicide.. It was a very disturbing program to watch!!!! Makes the money issue of big 3 look unimportant... Check it out on Dr Phil site, and let me know what you think Hope CANADIANS don't get caught doing the same Carl
Carl, this is a fairly common problem among all troops and our's are no diiferent. There are several suicides among our war dead in Afghanistan unfortuantely.
Yes I understand.. but 800,000 of 1 million waiting for treatment? The young man, with mising eye, was told there was nothing they could do for him Dr Phil and the U.S. government officials were really angry and upset A lot will come out of this program today..
The American system seems to want to neglect or forget their war veterans and heros as soon as they are done doing the dirty work for the country. The treatment of vets is despicable and needs to be overhauled. I think it's a true crime that dolts like Dr. Phil have to step up. I don't have a very high opinion of him and he's probably doing it to get ratings, BUT at least it's drawing attention to nasty problem which is more than the U.S. Army is doing!
Connie has a good friend who lives in Arizona. Her husband saw severe action in Viet Nam. When he came back he was pretty screwed up. The military basically told him to suck it up and didn't offer any help. One night shortly after their son was born, he walked outside and into a field and shot himself in the head. He left a note saying he couldnt trust himself not to hurt them with the demons in his head and that this was the best thing for all of them. Damn shame!
A Lot of the vets land up living in old flea bag hotel drinking the selves to death. People don't realize it because of them we live the way we do. They just see a old drunk. It the only way they can cope ,quite there inner demons

America rules the world!, lmao, the superior country, lmao,, bastards cant even look after thier own, New Orleans is still flooded. terible going to war, terible coming home from war too, cant win either way, people look at you differently, unfairly
I think it is a travesty that they can't deal with this problem for sure.
There are other good stories however. I have two uncles who were USMC, a Colonel and a Sargeant Major. Between them they have 3 tours of duty in Viet Nam, I won't mention WWII and Korea. Sargeant major has two purple hearts as well, one in Korea, one in Nam.
They are my uncles but the Colonel had his own Real Eastate brokerage after the Marines and the Sargeant Major wrote a few books on Viet Nam and taught at Washington State University....War History.
I think the key for a soldier going into a war and coming out victorious is for that soldier to have God above with him when he goes off and when he comes home. When a soldier comes home from war to him self and with no hope that soldier is dead already.
When a soldier comes home from war to him self and with no hope that soldier is dead already.
We were watching a movie titled " The Chritsmas Card" and Ed Asner plays a lead role, he tells a young Sergeant who he is encouraging to date his daughter, "You have to have something worth fighting for at home, get the picture". I suppose he was saying the same thing as you 65post.
