Pics of my 1973 Superior Coach

I just bought this ride in Aug. It is presently getting out of province certification. Once that is done, its off to the body shop for some new colours.

Thanks for the viewing. The old girl started service with BC ambulance although I'm not sure where it was first stationed. It was then sold to Crestbrook Forest Products and finaly to Interact Wood Products. I have been looking for a classic ambulance for years having worked EMS.This baby I picked up in Golden BC. I do have a contact in BC where I believe I can obtain its service with BC ambulance. Take care for now, Kelsey

That is sweet, a neighbour has a 75 Superior Fleetwood Ambulance 500 V8. He is a member of a club of Professional Car owners. Gotta love these cars.

Cool! Reminds me of the opening sequence in that 1970s show "Medical Center". I don't think the ambulance was a Pontiac though.. Anyone?

I'm pretty sure the Medical Center ambulance was a Cadill*c.  There!  I beat Ray to the punch and hopefully didn't upset C1 too much.

Personally, I think the 455 Pontiac is far superior to the Rocket. Sorry Olds guys.

I still think it would be neat to see it run 9's thoughbiggrin

Here is a 1963 US Naval Pontiac Superior Ambulance. Probably the the least known and most famous at the same time.

Quiz time: What is going on here?

Hint: Two very famous people are standing on the back of the truck.

All GM divisions had their excellent versions of 455s, Buick had the 455 Stage 1, Olds had the 455 W30 and Pontiac 455 HO and SD, the 455's out of 68-70 Olds Toronado's were very good too. The Pontiac 455's are easy to improve, all you got to do is install a set of 1975-79 Pontiac 350 head casting # 6X atop and a better cam so you got yourself alot more horsepower, compression and torque.

Yes, a 1963 Pontiac Naval Ambulance picked up the casket on arrival in Washington from Texas.

I am told by my neighbour who is a member of the Professional Car Society that the car was in the Smithsonian Instiute until recently. Rather than have the car go into private hands it was crushed.

Now that is just sad. Why not donate it to another museum with a stipulation it can never be sold to a private individual? That would be a total shame.

Not only is a history a big deal to me but when it's automotive history it's even neater.
