old ads - found a 69 2+2 and a 69 Bel Air 2 dr post big block

Tonight I was leafing through a few Ontario & Alberta auto traders from 1999.  I saw an ad from Calgary for a 69 2+2, 2 dr HT, 350, 30K mi, for $3500.00. And a white on blue 454 4 spd 69 Bel Air 2 dr post, Florida car, for $7500.00. Seemed high $$ then but these cars would be a steal at these prices today.

Back in the late 80s and early 90s there were a number of big block 66-69 Biscayne & Bel Air 2 dr posts for sale in Ontario, as well as a black 427/390 4 speed Impala Custom non-SS. I'd love to know where every one of them is now.

There was a black 69 impala custom 427/390 4-speed floating around here in the late 1990's selling each time between 6 and $8000- Jake from Beamsville,Ontario was last I know of that owned it-everyone always thought it was a deal then couldn't sell it when the got it.

Things have changed a lot of the years in the hobby and they could change close to back easily-anyone watch the $21,500 LS5 70 Chevelle or the AAR Cuda sell at Mecuum for low twenties last night!

That's the 69 Impala I remember - it was for sale in Beamsville.
I think you're right, when the economy contracts so does the market for the non-essentials. That happened in the early 90s when old car prices collapsed.

A more recent example: I'm a big fan of the 68 SS427 Impala convertible, but they have been getting very expensive - up to the $75K range in 2007& 08, and an unbelievable $95K for one I was inquiring about last spring.

But now some apparent relief: a really nice gold car sold at the Russo & Steele Auction same week as Barrett Jackson for $52K.

I seriously considered an ss427 custom coupe mid last year for a mid $40s ask. Now I'm glad I waited.  Maybe prices will get back to a more affordable range ($25-30 K 4-5 years ago) and I will be able to get that convt some day. I can only hope ...

the spring of 1988 I was looking at Corvettes-I was at a dealership near Toronto, they had a 68 Impala SS convertible 427 4-speed, blue/white top/white interior-$10,000 I liked it and was wondering about the louvers on the hood and fenders ! Seemed like an OK price but there was a 67 SS396 auto Chevelle hardtop in Delhi for $7900-I sold a 67 SS396 4-speed Chevelle the year before southern car needing paint with a small block in it for $2500 ! I sold a loaded clone 68 RS/SS 396 M22 Camaro in 1993 for $10,500 and bought a western 67 SD396 beaumont for $6900 in the spring of 1994, I remember locating a 26,000 mile silver 70 LS6 chevelle for a friend in the spring of 1996 for $25,000 U.S. and everyone thinking that was way too much !

I remember calling about the 2+2. The owner mailed me photos but I have no idea what became of them.
