Would be a good idea and it looks like you have enough room for a pool (the wife will ask, just wait!!) LOL. Present plan dig trench 100 ft long to garage. Given that the limit is 52.5 ft, the answer = Extend garage 47.5 ft towards the house.
This solves at least two problems. 1. Meets code page 9 in the book article 13.4 2. Meets car guy code page 212 in the book article 98.6 (build larger than you think you want)

I'm about 70 feet from the house and I had no issues with the inspector. I did this when copper was crazy expensive and it was about a grand for the feed wire!
Not a detailed answer specific to ON code, but something to consider, usually depending on depth you'll need one or two means of protection for the cable. This could mean combo of depth, tek cable (armoured), or conduit. Consider future flexibility, if you laying one run of conduit to the garage (to use cheaper non-armoured cable) then consider another 1.5-2" run that is in the same trench as far away from the first that is empty, this way you could always pull another power feed, or use it for alarm, phone, tv, etc.... the empty pipe doesnt cost too much more... use electrical conduit (nice large radius bends) and clean the cut edge of any pipe lengths inside well so there is no edge that can strip a wire you are pulling later.
Or.... dig a long tunnel that you can get from the house to the garage and not even step outside. Its like your own little evil lair!! You could hold secret poncho meetings and sacrifice a ford now and again!! On a realitic note, the other pipe is perfect and you should run a doorbell or a seperate light that the wife can use when its supper time.

Envy is unecessary, Carl. We all have stuff, but in the bigger scheme of things, stuff doesn't matter.
The reason I ask about inspections is that, as always, I like to do as much as possible myself. I've built this garage, with occasional help from friends and neighbours, but now that I'm getting to electrical, I'd like to hear from a licenced electrician before I begin.
I wired a smaller (20' x 20') shop at my last place, but I know that regulations/inspections have changed since then.
The fellow who wired my garage is a member on here but only comes on every couple of months. I'll email him and have him come on and answer your questions. Todd
