The low end cars had round lights . A Grand Safari would be square lights.

I just called and the young guy who answered said it was his grand parents car and didn't know if it was a Pontiac or Chev engine ? Looks like a 1974 to me.

Ask him to check the colour, that's one year before corporate blue so the Chevy will still be orange. I'd like to know because my 74 manual clearly states Chevy 400 in wagons. It is a 76 no doubt on that.

 I already asked him that, the car is at his work place so he won't know till tomorrow. I guess I could put my 1975 GP 455 in it with 6X heads...nooo save the money for the 72 Lemans.

When I was in high school I pulled a 400 small block out of a 76 Pontiac Wagon and put it in my 78 Monza 4-speed, man could that car get up and go !

A friend of mine in the early 90's pulled the crank out of one of these sbc 400 and transplanted it in a sbc 350, the 383 stroker went in a 80's full size Jimmy and he could lift the front wheels...very torquy.

So Ken, you're saying it will be a 400 small block.

I chose to modify the 4.3 V8 in my 75 Monza a little bit, man could that car move. I got the carb and intake from a Kingswood estate 400, hooker headers, turbo Corvair mufflers, no converter with downpipes at the rear axle, accel ignition parts, but we digress.

Hey-I had a 75 Monza with a 262 V-8 auto too-it was a neat little car and fast ! I later bought a 78 Monza Spyder 305 4-speed, had a bottom end noise-her son used to take it out and beat the crap out of it ! I bought this 76 pontiac wagon 400 small block and put it in the Monza wow did it ever wake it up ! I vaguely remember some difficultly with the exhaust manifolds-I think the 305 ones had the rear hole further back ? or something. I would guess the low end pontiacs had the Chevy mill, the higher end may have got the Pontiac mill even with earlier cars.

We show start another thread about V8 Monzaa/Sunbirds etc...

I believe the way GM did it was they used Chevy 400 in domestic produced wagons regardless of being low or high end cars.

Very similar front end styling in headlight area as Camaro, plus Motor Trend Car of the Year in 1975 !!
