I joined POCI today and had a nice phone discussion with a man that I told there is no Canadian styles in their membership groups. He is going to look at the Canadian Poncho website to update their car type criteria as it is not friendly to any Canadian Pontiacs. This should be done according to him in a couple of weeks, (fingers crossed) ! I am going to go to Dayton in July for the POCI convention and felt I should join their group, $37 U.S. and you get the magazine. ARCADIAN Chris
who did you talk to???? You also say he's going to take a look at the Canadian Poncho website, do you mean the POCI website?
I will send a note to Rick Gonser - POCI Chief Judge and ask him what class Acadian's and Beaumont's fall into. Full size cars, wagons, sedan deliveries & 2+2's go into their appropriate class. Rick Gonser has final say, and he's the one who handles the protests on show day.
I've been a POCI member since 1985. When I had Canadian cars, and they used to publish a directory, they would simply list the model, e.g. 65 Parisienne convt, along with the model number of any US cars owned. I don't know what they do now as they went through a major change of leadership, magazine editorship, etc. over two years ago, and stopped publishing a membership directory. In my opinion, the magazine is not as good as it was previously. Editorial content is OK, but the design, pics and print quality have suffered somehow in the changeover.
I sent a note to Rick Gonser - POCI Chief Judge and Bernie Hacket - Deputy Chief Judge. I'll let you know their reply. I was a judge at the POCI 2008 Spearfish South Dakota show, so Rick knows who I am.
sevent2plus2 this was not an issue about the judging but it was about becoming a member and having no where to identify Canadian Pontiacs like the Acadians, Beaumonts,Parisiennes,Strato Chiefs, Laurentians etc. The man I talked to said he understood and would look into it. He asked where he could get info and I told him that I feel this website has the most knowledgable people on it so why not use it. If nothing comes of this attempt I tried. On an earlier thread the issue of judging was explained and I know the class where my Acadian would be entered. Regards ARCADIAN Chris
When I renewed my membership online a couple months ago, I went to add in my 3rd 70 2+2. The other 2 cars are identified by the style number (the first 5 digits of the VIN), when I went to add the 3rd car the only choices were the US style numbers, so it looks like POCI just needs to add in the Canadian style numbers. They no longer publish a hardcopy register (it's online) but when adding in a car previously I just wrote in the style number, not choose from a list.
I've been a member for 9 years, and the magazine has generally stayed the same. I've attended 6 POCI shows, always had a good time and have made some great friends. Out of curiosity, which class would they slot in an Acadian?
As my car has about 40 mods since it was reborn. I asked this question on a previous post and it looks like the class is BBB 1965-2006 MODIFIED. ARCADIAN Chris

They have no place for Acadians. When I took mine in '90 they didn't know what to do with it. Then they realized the 427 was not original and put me into semi modified.
