1954 Pathfinder access to trans through floor

I am trying to get to the pressure ports on the LHS of my powerglide. I don't have a removeable plate on the hump, and 3/4 of the ports face up! I m thinking of drilling a 6" hole and using a plug like the brake MC has. Any other ideas - aside from pulling the trans?
I don't have a torch - and drilling seems to be the cleanest anyways.

Yes, I think it's the best way without the big floor hole. It's a part of the problem why mostly anybody take hydraulic pressure, and that way, guess the problem on those transmission.

The big floor hole disapear in the 53 model year.

Fitz.

Drilling seems fine just don't hit anything on the way through. I'm glad I have three on the tree.
