Small Block Tie-Downs..Did They Include Them On The Big Blocks?

So, we all know of the "campaign-recall" GM had on the engine mounts in these cars for the small blocks. I have installed these kits in all my small block cars but I have never seen a kit for a big block untill I picked up this '67 Grande this summer that had a 396ci. It had these cables still in place...The left one looks like the small block version, to the rear of the arm, but the right side one is different and unfortunately cut! Did anyone ever see a "live" set of these?

A gent who works at a NAPA dealer here in Calgary is the original owner of a '69 Caprice 427 car.  He recently had the car painted, and has spruced it up.  He has the engine hold-downs, and if I recall the drivers side mounts on the rear of the A-Arm bolt instead of the front, just like in your photo where the steering box is visible.  If I recall, the bracket where it bolts to the drivers side manifold is also kind of strange.

Thanks Clint! I wasn't sure if these, the right side, was factory. But the more I looked at the crimp near the eye, it is the same as the left side. Also looks as though the cable wraps around the manifold as you can see the heat signature in the cable as well. Can you get a pic or 2 of them?

When I get my 69 Caprice out of storage I'll take a picture of the cables and send it to you.

Try Ebay. Type in "Lift Stop". There's all kinds to choose from.

John, that would be great, thanks! I don't have a set on my '70 but having headers on it they wouldn't fit correctly anyway especially the right side. Guess I could just make a bracket that looks factory and use the left side only. That's really the only one a guy needs anyway. Hmmmm........

If you do not find them on e-bay, when the snow decides to bugger off here, another 3" today, I will see what I have in complete kits!

Hi I have these on my 66 396 and the right one wraps around the exhaust manifold.  It also seems to have been installed witha slightly smaller than stock bolt through the mount. (just for ease I think)  The left one(which would have to handle all the torque) bolts to the exhaust manifold.  Even though I replaced the ripped old stock mounts on mine with the updated ones I put these cables back on cause they are kind of a conversation piece.   If you want pictures let me know as I still have the front sheet metal off and it's pretty easy.

For my car these were a great idea as the left mount was separated when I pulled the engine

You bet Vince!  I'll post some pics as soon as I can find the key to my garage. You still coming to get a couple of 67's this spring?  I think they are still there under the snow somewhere...
