The story is the owner had the car less than 30 hours and was rear-ended by a teenager with no license or insurance..

I hope he had  "full replacemnet value" insurance on it for the first year.
Would have paid off bigtime with that coverage.

Since original poster lives in Ontario I'll sumise that the story originates there. If so, and the new owner had full insurance then he collects from his insurance company. It's up to his insurance company to chase the other guy ( or his insurance company ).
Isn't that how " no fault " insurance works. It's one of the benefits of the no fault system.

On closer look perhaps there is a dealer name tag from LA. Not sure about their system.

I think you may be right!  Even here they can be a rough bunch.  Once entered a park and came out like a rocket with my Caravan!

But, "They just don't build them like they used to!!!!

       did you notice, that the left tire is almost bald !!!! 30 hours old    Cool
