Last night I did some work on the wipers of my Park Ave. I unlocked the car to pop the hood and forgot to lock them when I was finished. This morning I found everything in my car tossed all over the place- the contents of the glove box and center console strewn everywhere. My beloved XM reciever was sitting on the drivers seat- apparently the would be thief either got spooked or was too stupid to disconnect the antenna. All the coax was pulled to the point my antenna was pulled as far as it would go. Nothing was taken (even my official GM "Corvette" sunglasses ") so I am thankful for that but am still pissed. I'm sure it was kids looking for money and likely my doors have been checked before. This time they lucked out as they were unlocked. We have had a lot of people come in to work with their side windows smashed-all because they have navigation systems out in the open. I'm glad I didn't come out to find a bunch of broken glass!

I have done that before too. I think there are people out every night who just walk by and try every car they pass. In my case it was my Deville and I realized about 11:00 pm. so when I went to te driveway to lock it I saw both armrests open and empty. I pulled the car out and with high beams on trolled my street, found everything witin 4 blocks, phone charger, eyeglass perscription etc...
happened to us too, with the 96 honda first about 5 times but it was always locked. Found out that they only made four or five keys so you could get in but not start it or vice versa. then the pt cruiser once. When i had the trans am i would never lock it because if they smashed the t-roofs which were custom ones it would be a pain to replace. i just dont keep anything of value in the cars anymore, and if you have cd's you should just copy them and keep the burned version in the car. Now if we were allowed to hook up a device that sets off the alarm and also stuns them for 20 mins. until the cops get there that would be fun!!
I still swear that about 8 years ago someone took out the plastic inserts on the bottom of the bumpers on the Corolla one night and laid them on the ground. Seems unlikely both would fall out!
we live north of town, so the odds are its not someone stumbling home. but i was heading to work one morning and my leather ships coat was lying on the front lawn. obviously someone had ransacked the beater took the leather coat, till they saw all the identifiers on it and thought different. someone also once came in though the back door on the attached garage, ransacked the wife's jimmy took her change in the console and my sons motorcycle helmet but left mine. i'm figuring kids because of the helmet size. i try to leave everything locked now because a lock only keeps the honest ones honest.
A few years back some friends of mine came out to go to work in the morning and found the "complete" interior of their S10 Blazer missing. It was Leather and it was gone. The truck was locked and parked in the front drive about 25' from the front door. Hardest part of that was explaining to the boss you can't get to work, and the insurance company. Would've been easier to explain to them if the whole truck went missing

My wife's car was parked in the driveway last night for the first time since last September. It was not locked and someone ransacked the interior. Don't think they took anything.
No one walks by our house at night. We are in a bay with only 6 houses, I have lights on the driveway, the 79 Buick is always outside and my daily drivers are outside more than they are inside the garage.
"THEY" must be checking all the time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Remember, "The Government" only has money confiscated from us.
Yup, happened to me a couple of years ago as well, didn't take a thing although they missed some credit cards I had hidden in a secret compartment. Just kids looking for change, I'm convinced they come down the street every night as well.

brand new 1974 Cutlas sat in the driveway at nite with the keys in it. Never would I think someone would take it back then. I now would rather leave the doors unlocked so they don`t damage the car tring to get in. very sad
Boy, you guys make me like living on a farm out in the flood zone. The water robs me of my time and a few material things but I know who the thief is, and when he is coming, so I can prepare!

Theres a blue 67 Beaumont SD396 auto convertible sitting on Roehampton drive in St. Catharines-the keys are always in the ignition-maybe the would be thieves think its a set up ?
