Went to see this car on the weekend.

 

 A 1973 LeMans Sport with a NASA hood on it. He bought it from the previous owner with the hood on it. The new owner said it originally had a 455 in it (he found a old car show sheet about the car under a seat describing the engine size). It now has a 350 in it, and also the 350 and LeMans Sport badging. It is an Oshawa-built car that was out in a shed for years in Alberta.Does all this add up?

Could someone order a NASA hood for a non GTO car in '73 (the owner thought so)?

Was a 455 offered in a 1973 Oshawa LeMans?

I'm not buying the car as it needs too much work (a lot of hidden rust, bad body work and paint, broken parts good from afar, but far from good) and then there is the price. I'm just curious about the history of the car. Sorry I don't have the VIN.

The answer to the Hood and 455 are of course yes. These were available on any Oshawa LeMans. If you had the VIN the engine code would be a Y for the 455.

Pretty much what you see, it was ordered with the NASA Hood, Rally wheels, A/C. Owner didn't opt for larger engine than standard 350 but wanted a GTO look wagon.

Yes, but it is already on here. Go to the 1970 +  registry and Fred has scanned in brochures for each year 70 to 77.

This is said to be the one prototype 1973 Grand Am wagon with Ram air SD455, converted by Pontiac for testing from a Grand LeMans wagon. Said to be in the hands of former Pontiac engineer Tom Goad.
