Strange noise from my BB........

I've got this strange noise coming from the front of my 468 but only when it warms up.My oil pressure is really good and it's not a knock. It sounds like it's coming from the front 2 banks of cylinders-real close to the front. When the noise comes around the engine seems to "cycle".It's really hard to describe. We've eliminated a thrust bearing issue so what's up?Any suggestions?

So say if the chain is stretched would it make the motor produce popping sounds out the exhaust? And why only when it warms up?It starts and runs awesome. It sounds like something wants out!!Thanks for the imput,I really would like to maybe see some road time this season.

I'd agree with timing chain. When it warms up, it expands and gets a bit looser, then it slaps the cover, and the tin cover will send some strange sounds around. Can also throw off timing just a bit as well, both cam timing and ignition timing. I'd look into it before it breaks. I've fixed them a couple times, lots of collateral damage.

Also, if it is the chain rubbing it should be fixed pronto as there will likely be some metal filings in the oil.

It might be the timing chain?
