To Pontiac rim...or not to Pontiac rim...? That is the question...

I've always considered my '66 Beaumont to be a Pontiac...that is until recently.  I'm now feeling that "technically" it may very well not be a Pontiac.  (Not trying to start the debate though.)  In the past I used to run with Rally II's to ensure that people knew that it was a Poniac.  Now I'm not so sure that I will being doing that.  Hence the poll.

Any thoughts?  (One of my favorite looks is the Beaumont dog-dish caps on a wide steely...but that's another story.)
Thx in advance...

GM ralleys with the small centre caps or I like your thoughts about the dog dish caps.

I like the dog dish approach myself, with the correct colour on the rim and right tire would be sharp!

rallys/small centers

I'm doing aftermarket cragars and a set of rallys with wire caps so I can remove and install trim rings and cap on my 66

As I said to you the other night I like Rally II's on Beaumonts.

Sorry, full faced hub caps on red line tires is the way to go. At least use the hub caps. Dogs are nice, but plain.

If it was my car i'd try the full hubcaps and redlines too.  Other than that i might go with vintage Cragars or Keystones.  Those are my preferences, since it seems everyone does the centre/ring thing.  I just like to be different.  Bottom line is go with what you like.smile

Yeah, I think the Corvette/Camaro rims are too common for my liking, but when all is said and done...as much as I like the classiic Cragar 5 spokes, and the Torque thrusts, and the GTO rims, and the Ralley II's... I do seem to gravitate towards the C/C weels.  It might be different if I had some nice original dog-dishes though.smile
Thanks for the feedback thus far...

Luv that look, especially with trim/beauty rims!  (Those dogdishes must be tough to come by?...)

i found mine on ebay, there have been a few sets on there, they do come up... i started by buying one, then a full set came along...

ken, do you think all sports optioned cars came with mouldings? seems like all 738 cars have them on... its not on my paperwork, i do have a set of mouldings from ausleys, i bought them last year but only pulled them out this weekend... one of the rear mouldings still in the bag was previously installed and had some damage on the lip! pissed me off! i'm going to call ausleys to see if they'll make it right! they are really cheaply made though, s.korea and really flimsy... not sure if i'll like the look of them on the car...

If I recall correctly-I think 67's don't fit well-don't quote me though-wouldn't want to be bashing someones product

Don't know what it should have-but they would look good

Thought i'd update and give a pat on the back to Ausleys Chevelle parts... i called them and told them that i bought some mouldings last year, just got around to looking at them and one was damaged and previously installed... they are shipping out the replacement tommorrow, no questions asked!! Good on them, taking the customers word for it, and making it right!

IT'S ALIIIIIIIIIVE!!!!
It surprised me to see this thread come alive again!
Too late, I picked up the 'vette style ralleys, (followed by some dog dishes that I was lucky to come across.  Recieved the tires yesterday.)  Re the quote, I believe in 67 the same wheels became available from the factory on the Beaumont (albiet with a different center cap.)  Therefore, they may not "belong" on a Beaumont, but they do "belong" on a Beaumont.
Thanks for the feedback!

Perfect timing for this thread to pop up.

I'm undecided what I want to do on my car, I have the right size rallies for my car but would need different caps...
or I'll need to pick up some streelies so I can use my dog dishes.

So which caps are you gonna run with the rallies or are you going steelies with dog dishes?

Joel

I got a set of dog dishes for my Acadian as well. Not correct for a Sport Deluxe but there's something about a dog dishes on a car...

I think a 327 with a 4 speed and dog dishes may be the look for me on chosen days.

Initially I'm going to put on the white letter TA's with the 'vette rallies (15" 235x60 on the front and 255x60 on the rear).  However, at some point I'm going to go with steelies (probably from Wheel Vintiques), black walls (as red lines cost too much), and the dog dish.  When I do that, I'm still somewhat open to possibly going with
17" rims with the dog dish.  I think that would be a good somewhat unique look. (Although the wheels would weigh a ton.)

66 beaumonts look cool with the poverty caps and steel wheels, rallys look cool on the 67 68 69 cars cuz they came that way, but the p01 caps are kina lame in 66, i think the steelys and poverty caps look mean and there not on every car you see, so just have all the above and change them like underware, sweet!!!! lol
