What make of alternators are you having success with?

I put an AC Delco single plug alternator in last year and it was already making noises the last couple weeks.  I've only put around 3000 miles on it so was a bit surprised even though it came out of Mexico.  What else is out there?  Someone had suggested Bosch but when I talked to may parts guy he said they weren't even as good as what I had.  I ended up replacing the bearings in it yesterday and it seems fine now but curious to know which ones are better for you guys that work with lots of them.

Ac Delco rebuilt on the LeMans, previous AC Delco was on there until 4 years ago.

Do you know the exact application for the one you put on? Some of the later year alternators were pretty weak as far as bearings go. Does it have a decal on it with the Delco number?

Hey Carl I just told them what it was going on so am not sure of the exact application.  I think it does have a Delco number but it's between the alternator and the engine now so I'm unable to see it.  When I have a little time I'll take a peak at it and message you the number.  I'm sort of glad to hear that they do have a bearing problem  cause at least that's an easy inexpensive fix.  Main thing it keeps charging.  That's the trouble with these little sixes they run so quiet you hear any other strange noises.  I'm not complaining though I'm almost embarrassed to say how much fun I've had with it this summer.

Sure, when you get a chance I'd like to know which one you have. It could easily be one of the units prone to bearing trouble.
