L-79 Beaumonts??

I know that there were a few L-79 Beaumonts built is 65 but what about other years? Someone on Team Chevelle mentioned seeing a 66 or 67. I know there are  L-79 1966 Acadains so there may also be Beaumonts from other years too.

I just checked the sales brochures and in 66 and 67 the Super Econoflame 327 V8 was optional. It was rated at 275 HP. The 396 Econ-Jet was rated at 350 HP. It appears that the sales brochures do not have the L-79 as an option, however, many will dispute the sales brochure information as not being 100% accurate.

Car photos seem to show a real nice car!  I don't think anyone stated it was correct!  Hurst shifters are a welcome additon to any car   biggrin

Always hard to know why someone posts like this.

I dare say none of my 5 cars are "correct" what ever that means anyway, they are correct to me. Let's see, I got a 5.7 litre fender flash from an Eldorado and put it on the trunk lid of my Fleetwood, I modified the exhaust cutouts on my Deville and put on 3" dia. chrome tips two days after bringing it home from the dealer, The Suburban got a wood dash kit in the aftermarket, a 4" tailpipe with Gibson 18" chrome extension and K&N induction, the Buick, well I just took off the hub caps and run black steelies and the LeMans, the list is just too long to go into.

It is unfortunate that some people have to pick other peoples cars apart. I think it is better to just accept what it is. Nothing is perfect!

I have to agree, our first 65 L79 is not perfect, but it is a true L79 Beaumont SD which has been documented by GM of Canada. This is Susie's car. We had it restored to her likes. The original car was Regal Red with a white interior. It is now 2000 Cadillac Pearl Diamond with a Red interior. The motor is the original L79 block, heads, manifold, carburetor, distributor, and M20 4-speed Muncie. We added the headers, aluminum fan, after market gages, stereo dvd system, and because we couldn't find the original side moldings we put on the 65 Chevelle rocker moldings. These were some of the changes we wanted since we like to drive it to as many car shows as we can.

Her car was invited to Medowbrook Concourse de Elegance, the Forge Muscle Car Show, where they did the Muscle Car Enthusiast Magazine article. It was also a Special Feature Car at the Sloan Museum Auto Fest.

My 65 Beaumont, which is the second one we own, came from Tofield, Alberta and has also been documented by GM of Canada as an original L79 car. It is being restored to its original factory condition. It is regal red with a black interior. It should be finished by early spring.

It's a SHAME that 65SSSD can't accept that we have two of the original real L79 Beaumonts of the 23 that were built in 1965. He must be jealous because of all the Beaumonts he owns, not one of them is an L79 car. He has mentioned there was an L79 Beaumont in his family. First it was a Convertible and then it was hardtop. Not sure what to make of that. We don't want to cause any hard feelings, buy why criticize what other people have. Just let them enjoy what they have; Original, Semi Custom, Full Custom, Pro Street, or whatever they are happy with.

Our family loves the Canadian Pontiacs, Beaumonts, & Acadians. We just happen to be lucky that we have these cars so other people can see and enjoy them as much as we do.

attached are a few pictures of our cars.

Well said. If it's not our particular style that suits our own individual taste, then no comment is the best comment.

Except for Gremlins.........

I still think Gremlins are ugly, regardless of what Tiny thinks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A few more pictures of Susie's Beaumont. First are pictures of the car when it was bought new in 1965 by Stuie Phue of Chatham Ontario. We met him in Bothwell at a car show.  He said he waited 6 months to get his L79 Beaumont. He told us he was glad to see the car after it was restored and thought it looked better than it was when it was new. We took pictures of Stuie & his wife in the car for a  keepsake for them. He also said he was sorry he turned the car into a race car at ST Thomas Dragway and then gave us his original pictures of the car.

The other pictures are from the MCE mag.
