I was reading about people selling on Ebay without claiming the income and got to thinking. Since Ebay reports sales over $1000 per month to Revenue Canada. What happens to the guy who sells his car on there? Does Ebay report that sale and would the Revenue Canada man expect you to pay tax on it? Without receipts to prove you spent a bag of money on your car, how would you prove it wasn't a real capital gain?
I doubt you would be bothered by anyone if your only selling your own private car. A one time transaction on personal property is not what they are looking for.
