Looking for our old 1967 283/powerglide Custom convertible

Hi guys, cool site.

We had a '67 Beaumont 283, 2-spd powerglide, butternut yellow, black bench seat custom in the family from 1980-2002 and wondering what happened to it.

It had been painted red 3 separate times since it was new and was sold less engine and trans with a very rusty frame in 2002 or 2003 in Cambridge Ontario (where it spent its entire life as far as I know up until we sold it).

I remember someone telling me it was rare because of the bench seat years ago??  I also took a look in the registry but I did not see it.

I "may" have seen it for sale in primer a few years later in the tri-ad but not sure.  I would love to see how its doing.  Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

No pics on me, they are in a box in storage. The car had a black top as well..

My Uncle bought it in 1980, it was the original owners X-wifes car. In 67 he bought her the Beaumont and himself an SS 396 Chevelle.

I looked at the car in Port Colborne for sale-I later seen it Waterdown swap meet-not sure where it went from there-run the vin at the mto $20 will locate it if the ownership has been transfered

Yes, about 10 years ago I saw a yellow convert being driven by an older guy.  Looked like an original version of what we had.  Saw that car in Preston back in 1999 one time and never again.

The car you saw in Port Colborne and at the Waterdown meet was our old one you think?  Roller with a really weak frame???  Was it still red?

yes roller with a weak (being conservative) frame-lotsa bondo-was red painted yellow-black top-the guy in Port Colborne was redoing a 66 Chevelle-bought this to flip it-I think it was around $3000 or less-then later at Waterdown another guy that did some disassembly and primer-laid floors in it wanted $6500

Thats odd they re-did the floors as my dad had the floors and 1/4's done around 1996 or so.

The car was chewed when my Uncle bought it in 1980 from normal use, then he drove it in the winter until the fenders and 1/4's flapped in the wind.

Then he did a resto on in the mid 80's and it looked nice, then it sat in storage until 94/95 when my dad pulled it out to fix it again.  Another body job.

THEN I pulled the car out of a field around 2001 and I remember the frame breaking up as it came off the flat bed tow truck and knew this wasn't something I could tackle at the time (really a Mopar guy..had a Duster 340 on the go).

Sold the car a couple years later...

Anyways, thanks for the heads-up..good to know progress is being made towards it seeing the street again.

when I seen the car in Port I thought the floors were the least of the problem-someone later cut out the floors and laid new reproduction full length side in-not welded when I seen it in Waterdown

I think the MTO used vehicle info package is about $20. If you have either the VIN or a license plate number you'll be able to track the car's history.

Tell him I said hi Carl.
