1958 Pontiac Parisienne 2 dr hardtop ebay $25,000.00

58.jpg

Listed on ebay. November 07 in Florida

$25,000.00
Anybody interested to bring it back to Canada ?

With only 525 made in 1958, this Canadian 1958 Pontiac Parisienne ( the Canadian version of the Bonneville ) is a very rare car. The car comes with General Motors of Canada Historic Department documentation that confirms how many were made, where this car was sold and to what dealer, the original 261 c.i. 6 cyl engine and 3 spd manual transmission ( MATCHING NUMBERS AND STILL IN CAR) , as well as the original interior and exterior color schemes. There are NO options on this car other than a radio. It has manual brakes, manual steering and no other power accessories. Although this car looks like the U.S. 1958 Bonneville, there is very little that is actually the same between the two cars. How many do you think are still around out of a run of only 525 over 50 years ago ? This has a very unusual combination as this was the most expensive 2 dr hdtp model you could get in Canada, and it has the base engine/transmission.

This car shows 19,241 on the odometer, which may or may not be original. Since we obtained it through an estate sale we do not know the history of the car. The car starts right up, runs well, and does not smoke at all, but it needs a new muffler. We have only driven it in our driveway and on the street in front of our house.

WE have completely drained, flushed and refilled all the fluids including the oil, transmission, gas tank and lines and brake lines. The car has a new starter, tune up parts and rebuilt carb. T

This was an estate sale purchase, and as such, we do not know the mechanical or body/paint or accident history of the car if any. The car , which was from salt free Alberta Canada until July 09, is now located in SW Florida and can be seen at any time if you make arrangements with us. We have it in locked indoor storage.

Flexible payment arrangements can be made, and we are open to working out a payment arrangement if you are serious about this car. As long as arrangements are made prior to the end of the auction, we can make up the agreements, and keep the car in the secure storage for free until final payment is made. Likewise, if you are interested in a trade plus cash, as car collectors, we are interested in some cars of the 40's-60's so that is a possibility as well. Again, arrangements and agreements have to be made prior to the end of the auction.

This is a car we would keep ourselves, however we already own an original Canadian 58 Pontiac purchased from the original owner 30 years ago

This car is being sold as a 51 year old used car, with no warranties expressed or implied. Additionally, by bidding you accept that this car, as a used car, may need mechanical or body repairs or restoration and they will be done at your expense. Transportation is the winning bidders responsibility.

This car was on eBay early this year. At that time it was just outside Edmonton. Bidding got up to around $C10,000 but didn't sell. I was tempted to drop in and see it while in Calgary/Edmonton in March.
Appears this dealer arranged a sale and had the car moved to Florida.
This is about the third time he's relisted the car. The first few times it was a straight bid process and it never got much above $US8,500. So now he's changed his tact and told us what he's really after, dollars wise.
Top of the line Parisienne but very low on options ( 6 cyl, std tranny, std strg, std brakes ) but it does have a radio.
Any takers on realistically what its worth?

My only thought is how it reminds me of the beautiful '58 Laurentian Parisienne 2-door just like this one in blue and white. I had it in my late teens as one of my first cars. 283 - Powerglide. That pop-up rear seat centre rest was sure unique. If I could find the exact car, I'd buy it again.

I doubt anyone would give him 25K. There is a few reasons for this.

I've noticed over the past 15 years that the market for 50s vehicles is shrinking. Or at least there are fewer and fewer people willing to shell out big dollars for these 50s cars. And there is a good reason for this.
Thousands of these vehicles have been owned by baby boomers for the past 30+years. A large number of the boomer population is now pushing 65-70 years old. No offense to the "mature" population smile.gif Many of these cars are now coming onto the market. Quite obviously, the vast majority of the present generation is not interested in these cars. Not to say that there is no interest at all among today's kids,.. but realistically,..not too many 18 year olds think it's cool to pick up their friends in a 58 Pontiac. And for the few there may be that do ,... they don't have the $$$$$ to buy these cars.

And then there's the cost of fuel now days. The 50s cars were beautiful,.. heavy,.... and love their petrol. Paying $75 in gas to go for a ride out on the town for an evening? Those people are getting few and far between as well.

I'm sure their are many 50's car owners gasping in disgust at some of these facts. But,.. really,... check the papers. The prices have come down dramatically on 50s cars in the last 10 years. It's my guess that there's going to be many more hitting the market in the next 15 years.

So,.. that '58 in it's present condition ,.. might find a realistic buyer at $12,000.00.

Yeah buddy, and now you DO own one of the quintessential 50's cars, a 1958 Buick (with enough chrome to sink the Bismarck)! biggrin
