In a continued effort to make Ontario's roads the safest in North America these increases will hopefully act as a deterrence to drivers who fail to recognize the safety issues associated with responsible driving.

 

 

Ho Ho Holy Mackerel your next traffic ticket is going to cost you!
 
Hot on the heels of the Provincial Government announcing that the maximum fines for certain Highway Traffic Act offences have doubled, Ontario police services have now been advised that the roadside fines have also increased.

 

An $85 seatbelt ticket now will cost $200  ($240 with costs) starting January 1, 2010.

 

Going through a red light will jump from $150 to $260 ( $325 with costs)

 

Failing to pull to the right for an emergency vehicle will cost $400 ($490 with costs) instead of $85.

I rarely see people pull to the right for emergency vehicles-its amazing-I pull over and everyones trying to figure out whats wrong

That's because nobody looks in their rear view mirror enough, should be checking it every 10 to 15 seconds!!! Also with the windows up & radio or talking, they can't hear the siren.  IT"S CALLED "PAY ATTENTION" to what's going on around you!!!

 I think its like the extra money they collect out here if you don't pay it on time.  Here if you don't pay your fine on time they add an extra bit of cash on top of it, I think its a victim fund they call it.

I happen to drive a emergency vehicle and its suprising how many people dont pay attention.Duel quad hit it on the nose with his comment.
I have had many close calls and i am fortunate that i havent hit anyone. The fines set do seem a bit steep but it may change attitudes.
