Painting my 327

How can I paint my engine? I will be using spray bombs and I can't do it in the garage because of overspray and smell (attached garage)

The high this weekend is only -1, so I can't paint outside in the frost.

Any ideas on how to build a little dome or something out of plastic that I could stick a heater in outside on the pad while I paint?

How about a cheap and small white plastic garden/party tent, the kind that comes with sides included?

My garage isn't attatched, but I still opened the door a crack, and put one of those white, 2 blade window fans under the door to draw the fumes out. Seemed to work pretty well.....not perfect as the wife could smell the paint on my clothes, but kept fresh air circulating....

wink1. Send your wife to town...    I would open the door (minutes before you paint) and use a fan to help blow fumes out..   Paint the engine!  Shut the door!!     I love the smell of paint..... sorry

Some places have the engine paints available in quart cans. Then just brush it on. Stuff usually flows out without leaving brush marks. Bit of odor from the paint drying but nowhere like the rattle cans.
Or instead of a bristle brush use one of those foam ones.

Crack the garage door to the height of a box fan.
Fit the fan, block the rest with cardboard.
Do you have a window in the garage? If yes..crack it a inch or so.
If not, open the door to the house a crack, open a window in the house the same.
Drape anything you don't want overspray on.
Fit your mask
Paint

Thats how my budy did his small block, down stairs in his laundry room. turned out just as good as spray cans.

You got to love those little perks. I did a lot of that when I was at work. I would get the supervisor in the shops permision and during lunch breaks or stay after hours. They were ok with that.  I miss that.  Sand blast booth, hydraulic press, parts cleaner, welders, drill press, paint booth.

I have had it very good with my jobs. I have worked in 2 dealerships since 1980 and have had a key with free shop use at both.
