Hello again, I am trying to decide between a dual or triple carb intake for my 261 and not completely sure which way to go at this point. I would prefer the tri-power but I talked to a person at Patricks Antique Cars and was informed of a firewall interference issue with the tri power intake. I had a look for myself and actually set a spare Rochester on the back of my stock single intake where the rear carb would sit and it looked to have about 3" from the back of the carb to the firewall. The only problem that I could forsee is if I was to put power brakes in at any point and needed to install a booster to firewall. Then there might be a space issue. Once again, Thanks in advance, any advice is always appreciated...Steve

I did a little research into multiple-carb manifolds for our 6's and although I did not keep any notes, unless my memory is wrong, I am pretty sure that you will want to have exhaust heat into the bottom of the intake manifold or fuel will not atomize properly and it won't run right at low rpm's.

I know the 3 or dual cab setup will look reall good but a small single four barrel will run better and be less trouble. If going with the mulitple carb setup get the BC series Rochester carbs that were originally used on the 261. They have slightly more cfm than the Carters that were used on the 235 six.
I am currently running coolant thru the bottom of my stock intake because I already have the Fenton headers and it has run great since day one. The other reason I was leaning towards the triple is because I would run a progressive linkage and for the most part just have the middle carb until higher in the throttle range.

That is a pretty impressive looking setup. Thanks for posting that pic. Dont know how long I looked on the net yesterday for a picture of a tri-carb install on an inline GM motor. I do like the looks of the Offy intake like the one in that pic compared to the Fenton version that is also still available. I think my engine compartment is going to look a little drab compared to that one though. All the shiny stuff just isn't in this years budget.

Here is my favorite pic of a 261 with a rare Fisher head with hilborne injection. This head put the intake on one side and the exhaust on the other side.
Contact inliners.com they sell dual and triple intakes and adapters for more modern 2 throat ford type carberators. Intakes for 235and 261 are the same. Summit racing and Speedway also sell the intakes; Inliners would be your best bet. Have used thier system on my 53 Chev 235 engine.
Thanks Poncho1, I ended up ordering from a Hot Rod shop here in BC. They get them from Speedway Motors. Your motor does look good. Are those the new carbs that you are running? I will need to be finding the shortest carbs I can since I ordered the tri-power manifold and I want to squeeze this under the hood without adding a scoop.

I had a tripple set up on my 58 Pathfinder, but was never realy happy with the performance of the change. I have now changes to an adapter with a 2bl and a stock air cleaner that I modified to house a round K&N air filter. The 2bl has been an awsome improvement !
