Greetings from Alberta!

Hey everyone, My name is Ryan and I am from Alberta near Edmonton...

I'm glad I discovered this site tonight (I guess migraine induced insomnia can be a good thing!)

I own and drive every day in the summer a 1931 Pontiac 401 Sport Sedan, My 1931 Pontiac 401 Sport sedan on CarDomain: http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2888455 http://quanticchaos1000.deviantart.com/gallery/#1931-Pontiac-Sport-Sedan

And I have a 1950 Canadian Pontiac Ambulance that I recently rescued from the crusher! http://www.cardomain.com/ride/3391311

I also have a collection of unusual, one off, one of just a few and even just strange cars and trucks, and a few other Canadian offerings like Fargo, Meteor, and Mercury Truck!

I have registered here with a very non-Pontiac username mainly because it is the name I use on a number of sites and it avoids confusion... and generally nobody knows what an LN7 is either! LOL biggrin

I am not exactly familiar with the site yet, but I hope posting those links to my CarDomain ect. is okay...

Welcome here.

While I know nothing about pre war cars (and a lot of other stuff as well!!) it's great to have you. Maybe you can be our resident expert on the old stuff. We may already have one of those here (expert) but very little is discussed about pre war.

Welcome!

Like Todd said, we need more prewar poncho here. Although the bulk of members here are likely 54-73, I'm sure they, like me have a real appreciation for the prewar. They're facinating to my eye anyway.

Cheers,
visit and post often,
 Mark.

Very cool 31! You seem to have a knack for good photos too! I like the way you've composed them. Nice to have an older Pontiac on here!

Ryans Pontiac Silver Streak
The Ambulance!

I came across this car about 10 years ago sitting in the tiny town of Gwynn Alberta, it was owned by a friend of my dads and he was not too keen on selling it, so I let it be for a long time...

Eventually I recieved a call from the owner asking if I was interested in buying it, he wanted it to go to a good home because if not he was going to scrap it.

There was no way I could pass it up, and there was no way I could let it get destroyed.

Fun with photoshop, I chopped the top, fixed the grill and added teeth to it.

My friends acreage where the car was sitting for the last 30 or so years.

Amazingly only one tire would not hold air.

We decided to use the slope of the yard to load the car onto my trailer, I got to "drive" it on while the previous owner follwed in his truck with a strap tied from the Pontiac to his truck to stop me when I got on the deck.

On the way home from Gwynn we stopped in Wetaskiwin for some subs, and while inside this gorgeous 55 Pontiac wagon showed up... small world as it is we realized we knew one another from going to car

1950 Canadian Pontiac Ambulance, possibly a Siebert body, flathead 6, 3 speed, Former Canadian Airforce Ambulance, slated for restoration to begin 2010.

It sure is a small world as I thought I would never see the village of Gwynne come up on this site. Wetaskiwin comes up because of the big car and plane museum but not many people have heard of Gwynne. I spent my first 18 years in that area before moving to Kelowna in 73. Do you remember who you bought the car from? I still have tons of family and friends in that area. Welcome to the site and it's fun to see some unique vehicles.

Hey everyone, I exist again!

Things are a little better, better internet, better working computer, and I have a great camera finally!

And I want to thank 427Carl for helping me out with his camera a while back, I feel rotten that I was not able to get back online for so long to keep in touch.

Here are some more recent photos. (I hope 600 pixels wide is okay)

Got to do some car shows this summer, not as many as I had hoped, but some good ones that were fun at least, this year my sister in law wanted to have the car I gave her at a show, so we all pitched in and made it look better then it was, made it mobile and fully road worthy all in about a week, we just need to do some body work, replace the front fenders and patch the rear quarters.

Reynolds Alberta Museums annual car show "History Road" was a blast, as it always is, this is my 12th year! (see how dull the 31 is? I have since cut polished the whole car and it looks like a million bucks, and for the shock value at this show I had driven through some deep mud puddles before, so it was caked pretty good LOL)

DSCN3382.jpg picture by EXP_LN7_Club

We had a bunch at the show this year, and a few friends did too, so we had a group shot at the end for the fun of it!

Left to right: My 36 GMC Rat Rod Tow truck towing an unrestored driver 1928 Chevrolet roadster, My sister in laws first car (a gift from me for putting up with my brother) 1970 Datsun 510, my brothers 02 Bonneville (a wreck we got for a song and restored) my 31 Pontiac 401 Sport sedan, my dads sweet 85 Lincoln LSC Mark VII (just like new) my good buddie Dons 84 Cadillac, and my monstrous custom built (by me) 94 Ford F350 deck truck. (it was in the show too)

There were a lot of great cars at the Raynolds show, including this Safari!

Been driving my 31 Pontiac everywhere, it may seem crazy, but I have been taking a lot of gravel roads these days after this happened http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xUyYftmWC_A sadly that is not an isolated occurence, and lately it seems people are getting more and more hostile to me when I drive my car, so I traded in possible death and dismemberment for some stone chips and dust, but now I have no stress driving it and can enjoy the ride again!

Hey look, a lonely road to nowhere, I better take that!wink

http://th04.deviantart.net/fs71/PRE/i/2010/249/e/3/taking_the_high_road_by_quanticchaos1000-d2y7dl0.jpg

I have a love of old abandoned farms and they are dissapearing so fats out here, so I try to get good quality photos of all of theones I see before they go, so far 80% of the ones I have shot have been destroyed shortly after, maybe I'm bad luck...

http://fc08.deviantart.net/fs71/i/2010/249/c/3/a_life_of_seasons_past_by_quanticchaos1000-d2y7dt4.jpg

And this is just a photo I took last week that I really like, the road to my house (it's the tiny clump of trees on the left side of the road on the horizon)

http://fc06.deviantart.net/fs71/i/2010/254/0/7/life_is_a_highway_by_quanticchaos1000-d2yh2im.jpg

And here is a really boring video of a drive in my 31 Pontiac! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o2ERoLfTslE And one of my rat Rod Tow Truck http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pakf9zpPM3M

So that is some of what I have been doing the last few months if anyone cares!
