Well I figured out why my carb was flooding so bad. It was the needle and seat assembly not functioning correctly. With some advice from some very nice people, they said to chuck that little metal clip that the rebuild kit comes with because it will cause the needle to hang up and not seal, well shure enough I removed the clip and tested the carb on my bench using a rather unique method of simulating the fuel pump, I can describe later if any one is interested and the float curcuit worked perfecly, put er back on the car, starts up first crank and no flooding, yeah. Now I have a dead spot at part throttle, well not really a dead spot, its just lazy and is slow to build power. I am thinking I am going to have to adjust the meetering rod for better part throttle performance, any ideas would be great!
Is the dead spot just for a second? If so, that could be an accelerator pump adjustment. I can't remember those carbs but on some 4 barrels there is two choices of location for the rod to adjust the shot from the accelerator pump.
If the flat spot is constantly in a particular throttle position then I'm not so sure.

Yep I adjusted the meetering rod holder and bent it up slightly so the needle was retracted out of the main jet slightly more, now it builds power good a part throttle, gotta love when its a simple adjustment that makes shuch a difference.
