Judging by the 66 SD ads lately, I'd say all the correct 66 SD trim must be at a premium. Nobody seems to have it all on their car.

Sharp car though...

When individuals refer to a car like this as not having the "Correct" (hate that word) trim, what do they mean?

In this case I meant it's missing a row of trim along the body line a little bit up from the rocker.

Yes, that would agree with what the parts book shows in the moulding illustrations.

I never realized so many 66 SD cars were missing trim. I have been looking at Google pictures of them and a number are incomplete. I guess a 66 SD would not be the easiest car to find pieces for. For that matter, any Beaumont...

If it was mine and I wanted trim it I'd just pick up a roll of trim at the auto supply.

Agreed.  Correct trim.  Correct wheel covers. Correct hood spear. Even the front signal lights are the correct clear/white (unlike the available aftermarket orange Chevelle ones.)  Nicest of all, no aftermarket transplant of the Chevelle flags on the fenders.
The moulding mentioned is very difficult to find.

The trim mounting holes were rusted and the clips usually broken or thrown away as well as trim strips being bent, dented and flapping in the breeze by 1972 is the real reason very few of these cars have the right trim. No one cared or could afford to put these cars away for our salty, harsh Canuck winters back in the day. It wasn't just Beaumonts, but every make & model.

I can relate to what you are saying eeludy about the rust. I was fortunate enough that the clips on my car held on long enough for me to preserve the peices. I beleive my car has all the correct trim on it. THe only thing I had to change is the front marker lenses due to not being able to find any or save mine. Also noticed that the lower trim is missing behing the rear wheel on this one

Here's a question. are the orange ones for the chevelle the same, Other than being orange?
reason I ask is, I could make a mold off of the orange ones and cast the resin to make clear/opaque ones.

Good idea.  I might even have a clear one that you could use?

alright.. now there are Lefts and rights as well, or is it a one part for both idea?

I'm heading to Calgary next week for a sculpting job and will try to do some research into the cost of new lenses (orange) and the mold material.
could be a viable product to keep me busy in Vancouver when I'm not working on movies.

Thanks for the input guys.

What would really be good is if someone could reproduce the actual '66 reverse light assembly that is plastic and crumbles after 30 or 40 years...
