Have you ever seen these parts?

Well look what I got today. The way I figure it Oshawa produced less than 500 pairs of these babies, one year only production, 1973, standard on GTO, GT and optional on LeMans. Two feet of gingerly bent chrome. I never thought I'd see a set of these.

BillyGoat 73 brought these up from the Buffalo area today for me, we had a nice visit and lunch. Bill got to see the Pontiacs I have in storeage plus he got the full tour of the JB Racing shop and diner and a Swiss Chalet lunch!

I think I will put them on the car, good excuse for a complete new exhaust system. Hillar always said it was too quiet anyway.

Those are beautiful pieces Ray. Are you saying those are NOS, not repro?

I'd be tempted to copy them, chrome the copies, shelve the NOS pieces and run the copies.

BillyGoat 73 has the NOS ones used to make these, he also graciously gave me the technical drawaings and specs used to fabricate them.

The originals actually fit inside the tailpipes. I don't think Bill will mind me showing his photo of the NOS ones with these, it's on A body Board anyway. These are left a bit longer to assist with fitment.

I have never seen them, had no idea they were rare, but I appreiciate your excitement about them. I would put them on for sure.

In terms of production, they were standard on 1973 GTO and only 4,806 were produced, the least number of GTO's for any year.

You could also see them on 73 Grand Ams and 73 GT brochures show them as part of the GT package.

I have heard that these were also used on the 73 Hurst Olds.

In any case none of these models was exactly made in huge numbers.

If you put them on, you better make sure they can't be removed with a wrench!
They're beautiful Ray.

I'm really jealous, next week the 67 gets duals...with boring plain steel tips peeking out from the bumper... a-la- B body.

You know Hillar's 2+2 had dual cutouts in the rear valance even though the 400 sbc came with single exhaust. He picked up a pair of 70 Chevelle SS tips and had them welded on. You would never know they were not factory. Just an idea.

Perhaps the same valance as the USA '70 Ray. Did it have straight backs?

Yes Firebird ones do look similar in some respects when installed. I had a pair of those on a non SD Firebird we owned too.
