Opinions wanted for a hybrid wheel treatment

rallyspinner1.JPGrallyspinner2.JPGHowdy guys,  I am hoping for your reaction to a really rough and ugly mockup of the wheel treatment I was thinking of using for my 66 Grande.

Its  7 x 15 rallys with the original spinner from the 66 Grande Parisienne hubcap grafted onto the centre.

Try to imagine this clean and polished, with the car painted the original Lemonwood yellow and the rallys painted the same colour instead of grey.

This actually almost bolts together except for drilling a couple of mounting holes in the rally centre cap.

So whadya think.....

I think it's easier to imagine that 396 factory air conditioned GP polished up sitting in my garage with my license plate on it, that's what I think!

OK so you hate my idea and you're just trying to be nice.  I can read in between the lines, you know.  Despite my appearance I'm very sensitive.....

No, not trying to be nice, trying to buy that car!!

In all honesty, I'm 50/50 on that cap. It's neat to have the GP spinner on there, but I think the spinner may be too big for the centre cap.

Can you polish it up and get back to us? I'll wait right here laughing.gif

Hi Carl.  Yeah i like the concept but I actually think the same thing.  It looks a bit out of proportion.  I just don't know which is why I'm asking people I assume have better taste than me.

(Course the thing is that those big spinners actually were on a 14" hubcap originally.)

I think you should go for it if you don't like the finished product there is always more rims out there

It's a little hard to visualize the spinner polished/shiny, but it is different, uses original parts so viewers will wonder "Where did those wheels come from, looks factory but ... ???" and will add a little flash. I bet if you go through with it, you will find that they grow on you. Plus light yellow cars respond well to a little extra chrome.

My vote = do it.

I like everything except for body colored ralleys. Body color steel rims yes, but ralleys need to be factory style silver in my opinion.

I like what I 'm hearing guys and I think you talked me out of using the body colour too.  Rally grey with original spinners, yeah!

What the heck!

Ken, if you can pick up one spare wheel, squirt it with the yellow and try it, eh?

We want photos when done!

Yeah sure I'll try a couple of different treatments with the stuff cleaned up and post a few pic for a real look over.

Looks pretty cool to me, if you don't like it when it is done add some accents. And at least the guy next door won't have them on his ride!
