Got pipes!

Finally, a little bit of attitiude that it really needed!
To save a few bucks I went with a China made Flowmaster 40 knockoff, actually a Dynomax Thrush welded muffler. 2 1/2 inch all the way back with a crossover. Welded the heat riser open. Very crisp sounding but relatively quiet at cruise.
A really nice clean job by Budget Exhaust in Burlington. A great custom shop highly reccomended.

I'm heading out for a cruise right now...biggrin

$650 Taxes in. They gave me exactly what I asked for. If you look at the picture, you can see the kick up on the tailpipes as they head back to the bumper. I'd asked that I not see the tailpipe from the side, and he gave me exactly that, along with the exact exit look and level muffler positioning. It took them all day to do it. Very happy.

Just had it out for a run around, it definately gets noticed now. Purrs like a kitten on the highway...and suprisingly little drone. Pulls a little harder now at wot and a little more snappy all round. I'd say perhaps 10hp more?

But it now has that subtle attitude that I'd really wanted from the start.

Looks great Mark. If I had a car like that that's exactly how I would want them to look. Good taste there.

I have an magazine at home and they took a stock 1965 Chevelle to the shop for a complete stainless steel dual set up with flowmasters and X pipe. They dyno'd the 327 to baseline it at 145 HP rear wheels, After the installation the dyno showed 163 HP rear wheels so they picked up 18 ponies or 12%.

All Pontiac sales literature always showed dual exhausts to add 15%, was usually a footnoted item to the engine charts.

So the real test results on a tired old 327 pretty much bear out original sales liteterature.

I'm partial to them, but that one looks particularly nice!
But they only made one in that combo..
